Untapped says Belgian Strong Pale Ale. Also, apparently its been here since December 19th, 2015. All check-ins appear to be at the Baxter Arena.

Looks like a lot of confusion, some say it's an Amber/Red, some say it tastes more like a Scotch Ale...
Did you see where it is being served?

Blue Line bar on the south end and a kiosk on the west side. I did not look on the north or east side.

LOL... From "Lets Go DU", UNO's opponent this weekend.

NEBRASKA-OMAHA’S BAXTER ARENA SLIP SLIDING AWAY

http://letsgodu.com/2016/02/29/nebraska ... ding-away/
The northwest corner of the 81 million dollar multipurpose facility has sunk 3.5 inches in the last year. The firm is predicting a doubling over each subsequent year. The risk longer term is a total collapse of the facility.
It would have been better if they said the last 6 months since the place isn't even that old, but good try Denver.

UNO's Baxter Arena wins top honors at the ACEC Nebraska awards
University of Nebraska Omaha (UNO) Baxter Arena took home the 2016 Grand Award from the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) at the Nebraska Engineering Excellence Awards Feb. 24. Though originally submitted for an award in the structural engineering category, the new arena, designed by HDR and Lempka Edson Architects, earned the highest honor as the best engineering project among all of the engineering projects submitted this year in Nebraska. Not only the best engineering project award, it also captured the People's Choice Award.

The Arena manager that was hired two years ago to oversee completion and to mahnage the Arena is no longer in his position. Two other unnamed arena employees are also gone.

http://www.omaha.com/news/metro/baxter- ... 47f1f.html

Nearly two years after hiring its first arena manager, and seven months after opening Baxter Arena, UNO is looking for a new leader to run the facility.
University of Nebraska at Omaha Athletic Director Trev Alberts confirmed Monday that Mike Cera is out as the general manager of Baxter, home to the school’s signature hockey program and basketball and volleyball teams.
Cera, a veteran arena manager, was hired in June 2014 to oversee the arena’s final construction and manage it after its October 2015 opening...........

I have to think the financials of the arena are not hitting the projections. UNO athletics have not exactly been a model of financial stability and they have a lot riding on this working. Hoping the numbers they used to justify this were not out of reach. That happens so much with these things as we have seen happen with Centurylink and Ralston just to name 2.

Completely unrelated, but why is "Baxter Arena" in quotation marks in this thread?

I understand that, but the quotation marks suggest dout, disbelief or sarcasm. Just thought it seemed odd.

It is for MECA but they do not pay any of the cost of construction and it's bonds. It's separate. The initial financing methods for the Clink failed fast. Fahey had to redo the bonds (where we were only making interest payments for a time), we went back to the state to ask for more liberal methods to help with the financing and then despite promises that the city's general fund would never be tapped to help pay for it, it has.

Makes you wonder, doesn't it?

Maybe that also explains why there was so much chatter last year about an announcement of a new baseball stadium being imminent and that the money had been in place for some time but was waiting on Baxter Arena to get on its feet. Just recently, Trev told Shatel at the Omaha Press Club event that the funding is not in place and there is no timetable.

I can't help but get the feeling that something has changed and I wonder if it's tied to Baxter Arena.

Agreed. This was such a huge endeavor. It seems like these things are always built with overly optimistic projections, then when that does not happen, trouble. UNO does not exactly have the reserves or resources as the city.

They have been paving the parking lot to the east of Baxter Arena this past week. Hopefully someday that will be torn up and replaced with development. I hate all the parking out by Center St. now as it is. Maybe UNO should have built a parking garage on this land with ground level retail.
