Good to see.  I wonder how much work they have to do.  The upper floors had the windows open all winter long.

This place doesn't look ready to open yet, but work seems to be underway.

Speaking of the Fairbanks Building,
I really like what they did in terms of Parking across the street with ground floor retail (this should happen in many more places downtown):

So do I. Was the area containing the pictured parking garage and the building that houses Maria Sangria built along with 1200 Landmark?

That is something that Lincoln does really well, nearly all of their parking garages have retail bays.

That I couldn't answer. I don't think Maria Sangria is a part of this garage.

It is all one huge complex.  Not sure whose bright idea it was to make a giant wall between the Old Market and GLM, but at least they put a few retail bays in.

It seems that Omaha had quite the love affair with walls for a few decades...

Wow, it's a lot more obvious from that angle...

Jazzing up vacant Old Market building with luxury apartments, jazz bar

Paige Yowell World-Herald staff writer wrote:Construction is underway on an Old Market project that will convert a four-story brick building once home to the Antiquarium into 12 luxury apartments with a retail space on the first floor and a new jazz bar in the basement.

The $2.6 million project at 1215 Harney St., which is taking advantage of historical tax credits and $404,000 in tax increment financing, is being led by Matt Dougherty of Dougherty Management. He said his goal is maintaining much of the building's original character, including original window woodwork, wood floors, beadboard ceilings and the original staircase.

This place is looking good. Some of the windows have been painted and from what I gathered talking to a worker yesterday, they're keeping the original doors. Pretty cool!

Yes, they were painted black similar to the windows in the building next door.

That's looking great.  I really like the new windows; too often rehabs like this throw out the interesting old windows with divided panes and woodwork and replace them with ordinary one-piece glass in a standard aluminum frame.  It's really cool to see them using something that matches the style of the building and add some detail.

I sure hope they keep the old wooden doors and give them a nice paint job.

They installed big glass panels, similar to the other buildings on the block, on the ground floor of the building today.

To sum up the article; 12 units preleasing and there will be a bar in the basement featuring live jazz and other music with a large craft beer selection.
