I too am interested in this. Also what are the plans for the old bank building? Are they still thinking of putting up a second building later?ShaneofCal wrote: Does anyone have any construction updates on this project?

Re: Benson Lights
The first few floors are built, it looks like section they are currently doing could be one by this fall (not sure on their timeline. From my understanding this section will house the new bank and once construction is done they will tear down the old bank and start construction on that part of the development.

That seems like a really strange mix of steel and wood…

I noticed that with the Midtown Triangle building. I think it's because wood structures are limited in the open unsupported space they can provide. Steel structures can create the big open bays for commercial units.EricHaley wrote:That seems like a really strange mix of steel and wood…

Looks like they are putting the old Louis Market sign up next to the pool deck. Interesting.

Cool! Different!
I can get pushed out because I'm "too much" for some. Then, an observer of me comes suddenly swooping in to "fill my shoes." People are always more accepting of the new one, because their feathers aren't truly ruffled by them. (Yawn) I can count on it every time.
Re: Benson Lights - 3030 N 60th St
This is just bad repurposing, it should have been put in a location for all of the public to see in the downtown area.
Re: Benson Lights - 3030 N 60th St
So back when this was being built I vaguely remember reading about it being built in phases with a potential second phase occupying the western half of the lot. I drove by a few weeks ago and it looks like that half of the lot is just surface parking right now. Does anyone know if an expansion is still possible or in the works?

As much as I still think "Cool! Different!" I may just agree with you on that. It does seem like a beloved retro sign that defines the original neighborhood that should be used in a way that benefits more locals than a "select few" that live there & lounge around the pool. (Course, since that pool balcony is visible from the NW Radial Highway, I would think that sign is at least partly visible to traffic. So maybe that isnt such a bad place for it.) Also, I'm not used to the odd configuration of a big, buzzin', neon retro sign so low & close to a medium size pool. When people do a "cannon ball" and splashes of water hit the sign, do you hear a "Sssssss?" (Course, the sign endures rain.)

I also recall that two equal sized buildings were to be constructed as part of this project. Did only one actually get built?Taco wrote: ↑Wed Jun 06, 2018 10:19 am So back when this was being built I vaguely remember reading about it being built in phases with a potential second phase occupying the western half of the lot.
