Great shot of the Benson Beer Fest.

I have always wondered what that building right next to Burke's is used for. It has that huge roof...

Ted and Wallys will probably open in the fall as a "soft opening" with the "big" opening in spring. They are looking at the land between their building and the church for extra parking.

They will probably mimic their space in the Old Market with parking in front, but I really think a large outdoor seating area would be a lot better. Especially if they plan on paving the grass behind the building to add some parking spaces.

I agree. The only part I don't like about T&W in Old Market is walking through the parking lot with cars backing into you when you head for the entrance. Granted, it is an old gas station, so cars aren't out of place, but it doesn't lend the best setting.

Is this a Localmotive/Ted and Wally's storefront? I am seeing this correctly, right? Because if it is, I will be making frequent visits for sure.

Old Market staple Ted & Wally's to open second ice cream shop — this one in Benson
Owners Joe Pittack and Jeanne Ohira are planning a November opening for the Benson shop.
The spot on the southeast corner of 60th Avenue and Maple Street, formerly Marcus Motors, will undergo renovations this summer, including an 800-square-foot addition to the building’s south side that will house a kitchen, offices and storage space.
BVH Architects will design the space and keep many of the building’s original details, including a front wall of curved glass. The design also includes a front patio and 10 parking stalls for customers and employees.

Another scoop, that was here long before the main media outlets. Love Ted and Wally's, so cool it is coming to Benson. Absolutely amazing what is going on in Benson now.

The work to transform the Benson business district will begin Monday morning, July 13th, with the pounding of jack hammers at 63rd and Maple.

John Larkin of the Benson Business Improvement District, Kathy Buchanan of the Benson Neighborhood Association will join city council member Pete Festersen in the ceremony.

The project will widen and replace sidewalks on Maple Street from 59th to 63rd. It also will add new landscaping, lighting and a public plaza to the popular district. Existing overhead power lines along Maple will be buried.

Access to all businesses along Maple will be maintained during the construction, however Maple Street may be limited to one lane at times.

This is going be a shot of B12 for Benson, this is a descent sized urban strip that reminds of larger cities having. Love how much attention it has been receiving.

I finally found out what that building is! It's a state of Nebraska substance abuse center, which is kind of funny considering it's surrounded by bars.

They look sort of Metropolis-esc but I like them quite minimalist-functional. Convention and ornamentation is for the weak-minded so I'm glad people are crying about them.

I feel like you're either constantly trolling or some sort of spawn from GRANDPASMUCKER and Streets of Omaha.

I don't mind the simplicity or durability of the design, but they do look more like some kind of traffic barrier than a bench designed for human use. They should have had a design competition and picked multiple designs for the benches, like GLM.

Those ad-covered trash cans are more of an eye sore.

I just walked up to DTBenson and the new sidewalk between Baxter's and Jane's is TERRIBLE. It undulates like a friggin' roller coaster and half of it is sloped towards the street to the point where it's almost unwalkable. Seriously, it's like 30 degrees sloped. Someone at the City needs to be made aware of this and hold the contractor accountable. Who from the City is in charge of quality control on this project and who is signing off on the contractor's work?? This absolutely needs to be fixed. Who do I contact??
