Great that they are planning another building, maybe not so great that it may possibly be built further west.

So this "Think", are they an independent medical outfit? No affiliation with UNMC or CHI?

I believe it is a UNMC/Methodist cooperation.

Some of the doctors broke off from CHI, at least a few that I know of.
He said "They are some big, ugly red brick buildings"

My Doctor is heavily in involved with this. BCBS may be involved but I think the majority investors are the Doctor's themselves, at least that's the way he explained it to me before they even broke ground. I've got an appointment later this summer. Will have to ask him about additional locations, and possible timeframes for that. This is so new and they put a ton of money into it, I can't imagine anything is going to happen soon.

Got a note on Thursday that said my doctor was moving today into this new network. (Thanks for the advance notice.) Since my insurance is United Health Care and Blue Cross is involved, I'm worried that this will be out of the network.

I see some advantages to this arrangement, but I worry that this type of development could actually worsen health care cost inflation.

So if what is being said on here is correct then a bunch of doctors got fed up and opened their own clinic... Sounds like they are cutting red tape to me, not adding it. I welcome more competition in the healthcare world.

Browsing the website it looks like there will also be a membership option that you can pay for. It includes things ranging from delivery of your prescriptions to nite time on call service at your house to valet at the door.

Yeah they basically just pooled their resources. With more government red tape to deal with now, along with how much equipment and software costs, it made sense.

I wonder if maybe a Southport location would be considered. Good location with easy access and lots of residents around.

A south omaha or north omaha location may work as well, if they venture into community health.

Got a tour of this place from a doctor i know there. Its very impressive and i have little doubt that it will be very successful, leading to more "Think" buildings.

It is an impressive building with an impressive list of tenants. However, they have a way to go on staff training and especially getting the technology right. (And that's being said by a guy who loves technology.)

Nope. Independent. Many of the doctors have privileges at those hospitals, and many were employed by those health systems, but not a collaboration of those doctors and health systems.

According to the Omaha World Herald the founding CEO of Think is no longer with them. As I have said before I don't think Think II is happening.

My Doctor is one of the originals there and he insists they are not thinking expansion. They are just trying to figure out what can right the ship. I know the pharmacy continues to under perform but has improved.

As a patient, the little contact I have had with their pharmacy wasn't all that impressive. In the day of mail order pharmacies providing much lower prices, I am not sure how any pharmacy does well. Also, from what I remember their pharmacy doesn't have a drive-thru option so I would guess they are missing out on a lot of re-fill opportunities.

They have a drive-thru on the east side of the building. Used it yesterday, in fact.

I posted in this thread over a year ago that this place was going to lose money bad. Of course that post was deleted because not drinking the Koolaide is frowned upon around here often. Sure the place is beautiful but it is also a monument and poster child for the reason our medical expenses are going thru the roof. Grand Pianos in the lobby and coffee bars and a client base that mostly pays their bills with money extracted from the tax payers. It makes absolutely no sense.

They've been bleeding cash since they opened. My Doctor was one of the original investor/founders. Kept asking him about Think II (because one out west would have been much closer to me), and he kept telling me it was not going to happen until they got close to a break even point.

Think appears to be planning some renovations (already) to their Aksarben building. In their monthly calendar to patients, they included: "Due to the refurbishment and re-design starting soon on Level 2 to facilitate the expansion of Primary Care Services in January 2018 and other developments at the center, we will be (regretfully) discontinuing ... classes November 1"

Level 2 has largely been their auditorium, gym, and glass-enclosed presentation suites. Sounds like they may be enclosing some or all of it to accommodate more physicians or specialists. Probably all driven by $$$ and the desire to have dead space generate more revenue.

Thanks, Coyote -- that was enough for a Google search that pretty much explained it. It sounds like a prepaid clinic arrangement, where the employer or employee (patient) pays so much per month and gets "unlimited" contacts with the clinic. Reading some fine print, it appears many if not most of these contacts could be via phone or online. "Please touch your tongue to the USB port and say 'Ahhh'."

The WH has an article this morning that includes this Nurture Health Clinic in its discussion of "Direct Primary Care" model of health care. http://www.omaha.com/livewellnebraska/n ... 8f329.html
