Swartz Printing Company Building (Driscoll Leather)

Post by iamjacobm »

This building located on 15th between Leavenworth and Jones has plans for a rehab according to BVH Architects website.

http://www.bvh.com/design/?page_id=2&project=249
BVH Architects created plans to restore the exterior of this vintage downtown Omaha building and convert it to a mixed-use facility for two commercial tenants and two condominiums. The goal was to preserve as many historic building elements as possible while introducing contemporary interior design. A variety of sustainable practices are incorporated into the design including such things as radiant floors, energy efficient mechanical systems, vegetative roof garden with rainwater collection system and salvaged/recycled finishes and materials.

Very nice, I just walked by this building today and thinking both it and and the parking lot next to it would look great if redone.

Very nice; thanks for sharing!

It's not hard to see the pint when all of the remaining vacant and rundown buildings in that area will be redeveloped.

The Historic Swartz Printing Company Building will be converted to the Urban Chiral Condominiums, a mixed use office and residential building, is asking for TIF from the City Council.

Hopefully they can do something to the parking lot to the north of the building as well. But overall, I am very excited to see this building put back into action.

Yeah, perfect spot for a Jones13/1501 Jackson type building.

As of this project very cool that thy are able to go condos here. Maybe showing a slight uptick in downtown ownership.

Hopefully preserving the building's character is still a goal of the project. They did rip off most of the ivy, which is understandable.

I run by here literally every night and have been meaning to post pics for you guys but keep forgetting. I actually like the north wall, it's a nice mint green (the color seems a bit more brilliant in person than what comes out in the pictures), which sounds odd but with the nice new windows and all the surrounding traditional brick I think it makes for a nice contrast.
