Omaha Development Map

Post by Garrett »

So I was creeping on the Des Moines forum, and I saw that they had this really cool map of all of the developments going on in their downtown, so I figured we could have one of our own! Just edit it as you see fit and be sure to follow the key and the format. To edit, click the full screen button on the top right.
Omaha Development Map

Map key:

Red- Mystery
Yellow-Seeking Proposals, Rumored
Black-Proposal, no construction started
Blue- Under-construction
Green-Complete

It didn't make the transfer since it was a link on the home page. It probably is still out there, it was a google map with pins in all the developments. An unnamed forumer suggested it, a moderator spent hours putting it together, but nobody ever mentioned if they used it or not, so it was never updated after that, except when Herb asked that his project be included.

Gotcha. Well, maybe this link could be stickied like the index thread. Any editing it is pretty simple, so anyone could do it really.

Two quick observations,

The Flat Iron is definitely under construction, not rumored.
You're missing the new apartments in North Downtown by the hotels.

Oh definitely. I just went to sleep last night, so a ton of stuff is missing. I wasn't sure about the Flatiron because I hadn't seen any press on it, but I'll change that.

OK, so I think I have most of the projects east of 72nd on the map now, I went through the first 2 pages and mapped all of the projects I noticed. Anything I'm missing?

Whoever else is editing the map, be sure to refresh it every once and a while so it updates.

That must have been me. I was actually just looking at it. Nice job btw!

Anyways, you should replace the link above with this so it doesn't put you in edit mode:
https://mapsengine.google.com/map/embed ... VT13KlrLJA

Then if someone wants to edit it, they can click the fullscreen dashed square at the top-right of the page (for some reason this button puts you into edit mode instead of going fullscreen).

Nice! That's done. Also, I've been trying to put the links to the threads for each development in the descriptions, that way they're easier to find.

I've noticed it the map has started to encompass all the entire Omaha area. May want to put in an area more prominent than just the Urban thread. Also, whoever created it should make layers to the map for each grouping (i.e. a layer for proposed, completed, and under construction). It doesn't allow anyone else to do it.

I've tried, but I can't move entities across layers, so it's a bit late for that it seems.

Your Sterling Ridge post looks great Jacob! The map is coming together great, thanks to everyone who has been helping out!

Admins: Is it possible for a thread to exist in more than one subforum? That way, this could be in the Suburban and Council Bluffs sections as well.

I'm thinking they could create a thread in each with a link to the map and also to this thread and then lock it.

Hey, this map is actually pretty decent. I can't imagine how many local sales professionals use this site as a resource, I know I did some years back.

Yeah we all made a pretty nice map here. Good work everyone!

Also: Could someone with more familiarity of CB fill in their developments in their layer?

Feel free to edit my 192nd update. From the DC assessor it looks like the Fountain West Office Park wont fall on 192nd considering Jasper Stone owns property on both sides of 192nd. Some of the lots in the Jasper Stone box aren't owned by them yet, but they look like they will fall soon considering they are surrounded by Jasper Stone holdings.

Seeing as someone took the time to systematically |expletive| up the organization system I had in place, I'm locking the map so only I can edit it.

If you want I can give you permission to edit it. There was a problem a few months back where someone went through and trashed it, and I haven't had much time to edit it myself. If you feel up for it, shoot me your email.

It's the Hello apartments. I don't think they are supposed to be connected to the Mastercraft building, but I could be wrong. I did see that this apartment project is up already.
