Interesting, its a lot more than I thought. I was told its would be a chapel for UNO Students. There was no mention of housing involved.

That should be a very nice addition to the UNO campus area and help continue their momentum at becoming more of a residential university. It looks like it may feel a little isolated, being that it's across the creek froma giant parking lot that separates it from the rest of campus, and right off of a busy commerical area, though. It would be nice to see more development fill in that area, maybe even open up space by replacing surface lots with garages.

To say nothing of the benefit to the small catholic girls school near by or the Nuns that live there. Could see a pipeline for UNO pre-meds to work in the nursing home or to work in Bergan through connections there. Should be a bonus to the entire UNO/College of St. Mary's community.

Why don't these sorts of projects get TIF?

Religious organizations are already tax exempt for property taxes, I believe.

That's what I was afraid of, wasn't sure if the exemption covered everything up to new construction.

Building progress is moving quickly. This building along with the Old Folks' home have added nice density to the west side of the creek.

1. You two are certainly ones to throw shade. :;):
2. Descent is a properly spelled word, even if it is the wrong one.

While that side is done and people are moving in, the east side is still under construction.

I am still holding out hope they are going to add some screening to the roof, the HVAC systems on the roof look horrible...

You may get your wish,
From the article:
The center’s chapel, still under construction, is scheduled to open in January.
