7th and William Street

Post by iamjacobm »

On the NW corner of this intersection in Little Italy it looks a heck of a lot like a house foundation going in. Nice seeing new single home construction, that is a good sign for the neighborhood.

I don't really want to start another thread for another Little Italy single family home so I will leave this here.

This home is going in on about 11th and Briggs. It is another addition to the modern construction in the area.

Super cool home, so far. Not sure if it's something most would do, but I would accent portions of the exterior in stone, and it will look great.

I think this is by TACKArchitects. The same people proposing Lanoha Tower.

This is the future home of Charlie Yin and family, one of the owners of the Hiro group of restaurants (Hiro, Pana, investments in Heritage, LOCAL). If you remember, he and his wife got frustrated with the gold coast neighborhood association after repeated attempts to block their proposed house, and went looking elsewhere for land...

Definitely not my taste in residential architecture, but this actually fits well with the other new developments in Little Italy (C02, SOMA, etc). I'm glad the owners found a good place to build and contribute to the neighborhood.

Agreed I think the house will bring new life to the neighborhood and hopefully jumpstart even more investment.

I don't think that black on the bottom is the final finish. If I remember correctly from talking to Charlie and Jen that it was some sort of sprayed on vapor barrier...

I don't remember what the final finish is supposed to be though... I guess we'll see soon enough.

That will be a nice improvement on that corner. The house reminds me of the Yin house just built over near 11th and Pierce (image below).

All of the new apartments, condos and rowhouses in midtown/downtown are fine, however, I would LOVE to see more detached single family developments. I'm sure there are a million reasons why it doesn't make sense, including financial feasibility. Still, there is a market of people who want new construction, want to live near downtown and also want their own yard/garage/property.
