Not sure it's official yet, but I sure sounds like that's where the momentum is headed.

Since FNB has the ability to go green too, it would be cool to see both of them green at the same time!

It sort of looks like the Woodmen was added to an Omaha skyline, like a cut and paste job.

I am fairly certain that tower has been in the same place my whole life... :;):

I have two different guesses about why. One is that its the difference in the color temperature of the lights around it. The woodman is using new LED lights that are a lot cooler than all the High Pressure Sodium Lights and incandescent lights downtown. The Sodium lights (standard streetlight) are like 2000k and a Halogen light is around 3000k. Random Guess from when the tower is light white, those LED lights are about double the color temp of the other lights.

The other is the intensity of the LED lights They are just so bright and shining off a white building, it just glows. Every take a photo of someone with a flash in a dark area, the flash is close to them and it really lights them up, but the rest of the photo is dark and the person almost looks photoshopped in, it could be a similar effect.

I am guessing the reason you only see it in 2 and 3 is because in 1, the tower dominates the photos, but not in 2 and 3.

The only difference in my post processing last night is that last week I bought a SpyderPro4 Color calibration setup for my computer monitors.
" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

It changed the color of the monitors a bit and also darkened them a smidgen.

I really like photo #1. Not only does it highlight the Woodmen, but Mary Magdalene in front of it looks magnificent with its steeple.

Thanks. If there wasn't an annoying parking lot light just to the left of this photo, I would have like the steeple a little more in the tower.

Micheal Yanney, he is a very very rich gentleman who's had his offices up in the Woodman for a long time now. I suppose it's so he can retire like a king but he is converting one of the top floors of the tower into his personal residence. I kid he is a wonderful person and has given s lot to his community and less fortunate.

That's actually kind of neat. I still think Woodmen would make a great residential conversion in the next 20 years or so. Maybe after Woodmen actually follows through and leaves Omaha because we won't cut their taxes any more.

Yanney was one of the people behind the AmericaFirst proposal that was rejected, with the city choosing the Wall Street Tower proposal instead.

Agreed...and as long as they don't give him a property tax exemption for his residence. Although he does give back a lot to the community, of course.

Yep, but if approved by the legislature, Woodmen sets a new precedent for everyone else and their brother to demand their exemption, or else.

Deny their request, evict if they stay, negotiate the remaining offices elsewhere, convert to residential. Reduces the downtown office capacity low enough for new office construction Lonoha...

This actually includes about 30 other "fraternal" organizations for exemptions. Maybe we can use it to attract others to the state, glass half full.

LED bulbs fuel downtown light-o-rama
The 17,056 bulbs, packed into 164 fixtures, last longer and use about one-third of the energy of the metal halide bulbs that lit the building until last fall, said Steve McKern, vice president for administrative services. The system will pay for itself in about a dozen years and eventually save money, he said.
The only drawback: The bulbs stay cool so that workers have to brush the snow off. The old incandescent bulbs melted the snow but generated unneeded heat.
They also have a short video on the World Herald's website showing what the bulbs look like.

Yeah I could imagine they could enhance the building even more with LEDs, especially in the upper section with the panels.
