Sprague Street/Park Crest Apartments (4822 Sprague)

Post by Seva »

Was checking out the Northstar Foundation when I ran straight into a fairly large project that I hadn't heard anything about. It's apparently a renovation of an existing apartment building that will be used as a women's rehab center. Seems like a cool, notable project with some big names (Alley Poyner) behind it. Does anyone have any more info on this place or renderings?

It's next to the sparkling clean Northstar foundation, but also some of the scariest housing projects I've seen in Omaha. Maybe with the positive momentum in the area, those projects can be bulldozed or remodeled next.

That's a cool site, I hadn't been there. Who's A&D?

I got a crude rendering when I googled the other listed address, 4847 Sahler:

Heartland Family Works?
The renovation of the existing concrete and masonry building will provide for a new rehabilitation center for women who suffer from chemical dependency addictions. The program caters to women who are pregnant or who have children and can continue to remain in their care during the treatment process. The project scope is a complete renovation of the structure including new egress stair towers, entry and lobby additions at the north and south, new elevator, treatment floor with administrative offices, child care area, three floors of living and treatment units, and a community space on the upper floor.

There was an OWH article about this on 2012/04/23
You are correct these used to be the Park Crest and the Park Crest Terrace II.
Formerly owned and managed by Park Plaza Property's (Now White Lotus) before they sold it to Avram Cimerring Omaha's most notorious Landlord.
It was a sad chapter in Omaha landlord operations and code enforcement, fires, water running out the doors and freezing in the street.
Several articles on this site by Erin Grace with OWH.
Good it has finally found new life.

Its always nice to see these new project announcements but looking back ..... feels like this one was never closed out. Was the full development ever completed? It was going to be built in phases. Photos anyone?

No photos here, but yes both projects have completed. The campus at 4320 Fort is fully built out (though I haven't seen it) and the building on Sprague turned out very sharp.
