Yeah the backside, even less so. I sure hope that the apt building wraps around that to block the parking garage.nativeomahan wrote:Not exactly attractive.

Shouldn't see any of it from the street when finished.

Not a great cell phone pic, from the Baxter arena parking lot... I hope they make an impressive retaining wall, but you can see the under grounds for the complex.

Could someone please post renderings for this project? I’m curious what it’ll look like when finished.

Re: Aksarben by Broadmoor
This parking garage is built to serve just one apartment building?

I wonder if Aloft will also be using it.

Something doesn’t add up. How many apartments are in this development? Unless there are maybe 300 the garage seems extravagant.

Re: Aksarben by Broadmoor
They are now building apartments on the south side of the garage as well as a 'connector' between the apartment building and the garage on the north side. I am guessing that the 'connector' is really going to be the clubhouse, offices, pool house, etc. Lousy photographer or I would have included pic.sGarrett wrote: ↑Sun May 20, 2018 6:06 pm241 apartments, 399 parking.nativeomahan wrote: ↑Sun May 20, 2018 4:14 pm Something doesn’t add up. On the North, South and West side of the garage there will be apartments looking out. The West apartments will be looking into the pool/courtyard with apartments looking into the courtyard and apartments on the N,S and West looking outward.

Re: Aksarben by Broadmoor
I drove past Aksarben on Center this weekend and noticed this development. I have not been down this way in while, so it kind of shocked me. It has quite the presence considering that there really was not much there to begin with. Excited to see this one get done and to see how it adds to the area.

Re: Aksarben by Broadmoor
This is a policy that the city's urban planners could implement so easily. Especially since downtown already has its own set of codes. Its just bad planning policy for our city which is trying to urbanize itself.

Re: Aksarben by Broadmoor
I thought there was a policy that required buildings to be built closer to the street with parking behind it. I think it came up when Omaha went thru all that design policy changes years ago. Am I just imagining that such a policy exists?buildomaha wrote: ↑Mon Jul 23, 2018 10:55 pmThis is a policy that the city's urban planners could implement so easily. Wraps take quite a bit of space when you need to get X amounts of units in the project to cover the garage costs. I would bet you generally need more than a city block in Omaha for them to make sense.

Re: Aksarben by Broadmoor
I agree with this. While it would be great to see the parking garage hidden, the result would likely be quarter-block size, cramped, difficult to navigate garages, such as the NE portion of the Tower Park garage at 18th & Douglas, or a smaller version of the FNB/DoubleTree garage at 16th & Dodge.

Re: Aksarben by Broadmoor
I totally agree.. But:
People come to AV and want to shop.
They see there is little street parking and so leave.
We have tons of parking but garages are hid, for esthetic sake.
We have signs all over that point to 1000 spaces available,
but they can't find them.

Ever been in the parking garage in FNB Tower? It's terrible.EricHaley wrote: ↑Tue Jul 24, 2018 4:22 pmI agree with this. Yes, I referenced that one in my post as the FNB/DoubleTree garage.obvious2677 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 25, 2018 7:36 amEver been in the parking garage in FNB Tower?
