Why?
Because they pulled out of downtown.

So we need to make it look like investment and development in Omaha is harder to outside investors?

If they were denied TIF, would they not move to Sarpy County or even further? Despite the past, this is a deal Omaha needs to make.

Isn't the purpose of TIF to encourage development of blighted areas? Aksarben is far from blighted.

I understand the political reality however that the city has to placate a well known employer.

Like with ConAgra in the late 80's?

Wasn't it blighted when it was the Race Track? I would assume they get so many years before that goes away?

The second paragraph of the cover letter for the resolution going to the City Council speaks to this issue. I can't copy it but is says that the HDR block is the 6th Zone of the Aksarben Redevelopment Plan to be developed and each Zone when developed would use TIF to offset initial public infrastructure and development costs. Zone 6 is the last zone to be developed.

Council approves TIF for new HDR headquarters; work to begin 'very soon'
Dirt will fly “very soon” on the new HDR Inc. headquarters, the developer told the Omaha City Council on Tuesday as it approved $15 million in tax-increment financing for the project.

The council voted 7-0 to approve the TIF after praising the project

Construction is expected to be finished in early 2019.

The company decided instead to move to the Aksarben site in a $113 million project.

From the city clerk's documents:

Image

The 8-story building to the right is labeled as office/retail. I think this is for future development but there are a few more renderings of what the area will look like.

For |expletive| sake, would it kill them to put their scanner into grayscale instead of black and white?

Hahaha! No kidding! Maybe even color, in this day and age? Guess it would go through no matter what anyway, even scratched in sand.

I mean it clearly scans in some form of color since the first page still has blue from the seal and some of the pen signatures.

I was wondering about that. Aksarben Village has always put a temporary storage shed on that E end of that lot for their snow moving equipment and I noticed they put the shed there today.

Today the temporary parking lot is closed off and there is a big backhoe over there.

Noddle just requested $15M in tif for their $114M project of a ten story office tower and a 1090 stall parking garage. This would include 18,000 SF of ground floor retail space in the office tower and 7,800 SF of ground floor retail space in the parking garage "along the 'alleyway' facing the office tower. An 'alleyway' (separately plotted outlots) created by the adjacent office tower and parking garage structures wiil be a community common area."

I thought the "Sir" was just MTO being MTO....
Surcharge = An additional force applied at the exposed upper surface of a restrained soil
If you were just being a smart @ss, sorry...

As I left AV at 1500 this afternoon, they were still in surcharge removal. And it looks like they are ready to connect with underground sewer works.

No I'm referring to conagra flipping us the double bird and skipping town.

Well no one can predict the future specially that far out however ConAgra left us with a campus HDR would leave us with a tower. And I'd rather be left trying to occupy a tower than whatever you call ConAgra's property.
