Centerline Apartments (70th and Oak)
From the World Herald:
The Aksarben Village apartments will bracket the new HDR headquarters building. Alchemy Development LLC proposes two five-story buildings. They would comprise a total of about 100 apartments, with underground parking.
One apartment building will rise on the southwest corner of 64th Avenue and Shirley Street. The other will be built on the northwest corner of 64th Avenue and Frances Street. They will be a mix of studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments, with monthly rents ranging from $775 to $1,500.
The buildings are expected to cost $15.8 million.
A short way southwest of Aksarben Village, the Centerline apartments are proposed for 70th and Oak Streets. Two five-story buildings will have 158 apartments, with rents ranging from an estimated $840 a month for the least expensive studio to $1,400 for the most expensive two-bedroom unit.
The site is complicated by the existence of four or five building foundations left from a previous development that failed, Bridget Hadley, a City of Omaha economic development planner, told the Planning Board. Abandoned many years ago, the foundations will have to be demolished before J Development can build the new apartments.
The project would cost an estimated $23.5 million.

Re: Official: Aksarben Village
Is this the development just east of the NB 72nd to Center ramp? If so, I was just recently driving by there and recalled the foundations of failure, wondering what happened since the foundations are now almost completely hidden, yet there's parking…skinzfan23 wrote:From the World Herald:

Nice, about time they do something there. Those never finished foundations have been in the ground forever.

Love that this is getting filled in finally.
Re: Centerline Apartments (70th and Oak)
I just looked and it appears that the one building they actually finished, was built 6 years ago. Seems like it would be a lot longer than that, when all the foundations went in.skinzfan23 wrote:Love that this is getting filled in finally.
Hopefully when they develop the rest of Chili Greens they can connect this little section of Oak St down to 67th Street. They would need to buy a little right of way through the other apartment, but it seems like it would really help the flow of the area.

The renderings look pretty solid. It's nicer than a lot of the west Omaha stuff. Glad this parcel is seeing some life again.

On 72nd Street: Centerline apartments opening in phases, hotel-Shark Club property selling again
Cindy Gonzalez / World-Herald staff writer wrote:Nearly 80 of the 162 units are ready — about 80 percent of those are leased — and other floors will open in phases through November, said Julie Stavneak of J. Development.
Re: Centerline Apartments (70th and Oak)
Good bump. From the street, these look more or less ready to go. Really nice in-fill. The 72nd corridor south of Pine (Walmart) has a lot of potential to renew, with a good number of older/unused properties that have excellent access to Aksarben, 72nd & Dodge area, and the interstate. Hopefully this is very successful and kickstarts new ideas.
