So excited to see how this place turns out, especially when/if they redo that stretch of 16th street. Out of all the apartments being built downtown, this one is my favorite.

Great pictures!  It's cool to see an adaptive re-use project like this.  I don't know if it's a real term, but I'd call it "up-fill" development.

"Up-fill development."

Noun

Definition: Development of an existing building while adding vertical height.

Works for me.

Hi,
Here is a picture taken from OPPD today.
At one point ten workers were (freezing) on the roof.

Haha, I didn't even notice them gone in the picture.  Every tree between Dodge and Howard on 16th is supposed to be gone by April 1st for the 16th Street project.

Yes, they hacked them down a few weeks ago, so they could move the protective fencing out closer to the street.  :(

Dicon's fb referred to this project as "The Limelight."

They changes it so there was no confusion with the Capitol District.

Ok, I get the name association being next to the Orpheum, but Limelight!? :barf:

Who beside the self absorbed (i.e. theater people, who probably can't afford to live there anyway), would want to live within such pretentious sounding confines? I'd be embarrassed to say "I live in the Limelight".

What's wrong with just calling it The Lerner or Lerner Lofts?

A Rose by any other name...

In the 70s & 80s people who lived in a certain development fell into three catagories. Some said they lived off of 99th & Dodge, some said they lived near Westroads, and the rest proudly announced that they lived in Regency. No kidding.

Living on a lighted stage
Approaches the unreal
For those who think and feel
In touch with some reality
Beyond the gilded cage

Cast in this unlikely role
Ill-equipped to act
With insufficient tact
One must put up barriers
To keep oneself intact

[Chorus:]
Living in the limelight
The universal dream
For those who wish to seem
Those who wish to be
Must put aside the alienation
Get on with the fascination
The real relation
The underlying theme

Living in a fish eye lens
Caught in the camera eye
I have no heart to lie
I can't pretend a stranger
Is a long-awaited friend

All the world's indeed a stage
And we are merely players
Performers and portrayers
Each another's audience
Outside the gilded cage

RUSH - Limelight From their Spirit Of The Radio album
He said "They are some big, ugly red brick buildings"
...and then they were gone.

I wouldn't say it's a hot button issue but rather indicative of how ridiculous the marketing for shopping centers and living spaces has become.

Probably lots of extra reinforcement on those walls with all the windy days we've had. Terrible time of year to not be enclosed with the project.

Brad: I like your photos

The views from the building are a lot better than one would assume. I also love that photo showing the floor trusses before they were covered with plywood. Something about all the lines is soothing...
