I know that I took quite a few pictures in different directions from the 10th and 14th floors. I sure miss being in that building with that view.

This is zoomed in a bit. Sorry for the cropping but this one decently approximates what it looked like out of your eye in terms of how close the buildings felt. Not sure if this is the 10th floor or 14. I liked 10 better because you felt like you were part of the space in between the taller buildings.

Yes, skinz, I miss the view too!
My son got a 27 on his ACT. No this score is not as high as what Jeff's son achieved. But one has to remember the paternal gene-pool my son has to overcome. On a PGPAB [Paternal Gene-Pool Adjusted Basis], my son's score is a 37 and Jeff's son's PGPAB ACT score is 19.

Great views! Thanks for posting!

I'd stay at that hotel if I was a visitor.

The video below is not really a shameless plug for Pacific Life. Rather, it's just another example of me geeking out about the view looking out from the west side of the Landmark Centre. Look behind the people to the buildings outside the windows. Because there are people in these shots, it gives some context to how big, deep and close these skyline line looks. There are a few shots looking out from other sides of the building too. These other shots remind me how haunting it could be on the upper floors watching storms come in.

Sounds like they will close the 13th St entrance and make Farnam St the main hotel entrance. Expected completion August 2019.

Move of Mutual of Omaha Bank's HQ to Landmark building is good news for downtown and a sign of growth

Forgot about this. Talked to Skinsfan23 at the ballpark during the CWS. We were up in the very top row on the 3rd base side. The sign was visible but not readable from the stadium.

They put a larger sign up on the west side of the building. I didn't walk far enough east to see if they also threw one up on that side.

So, are they still moving forward with the hotel conversion and 2 story extension on the south side? Going back to the initial OWH article about the extension, it was originally planned to be finished by Fall 2019, but I haven't seen any work or update on this one.

Looks like this is happening. Wondering what the saturation point is for Hotel rooms downtown. Great location near the Gene Leahy mall and Old Market. I think one of the better locations downtown for a hotel.

I agree, it's a very good spot for a hotel. Too bad they can't just build one above the garage. In any case, is the area fence off, is there construction work happening? I have been in town recently and didn't notice anything.

There is nothing going on there. Walked by yesterday.

For proponents of more high rises did you read the rationale for this project? Building was 40% empty and 7 year absorption rate.

Too bad they can5 keep this all office and convert that eyesore to the east into something meaningful. Including the garage.

Perhaps Cermak was referring to something financial that is helping this project move forward? Not that crews are on site...

Just trying to help Ita. Good question about financing but that would be some pretty confidential stuff to share on this site.

I question the absorption rate quoted in the article. A bit more critical.

A new facade would do wonders for the data center, especially if they could carve out retail spaces on the ground level facing the new Leahy Mall.

We haven't seen anything happen with the claimed hotel conversion yet. I wonder if the acquisition of Mutual of Omaha Bank by CIT has anything to do with it. We first had confirmation by the owner of the Landmark end of 2017/beginning of 2018. Nothing has gone on and then in June 2019, CIT announces the purchase of MoOB. Today's article on the close of the sale states that this is CIT's "first real foothold" in middle America. If CIT has plans to grow its business and for the Omaha office to become a regional office, maybe they are planning to commit to take more space at the Landmark, thus requiring the owner to redo his plans for the hotel conversion. Also, I am optimistic about this acquisition and hope CIT is successful in establishing a regional office here and growing its business in the region and in the niche market MoOB was a part of.

I'm surprised there's not a thread dedicated to the Mutual of Omaha Bank acquisition... seems like this could have some impact in several areas... another possibly being Midtown Crossing.

Does anyone have an update on the hotel/activities here? There are 3 haul-away dumpsters on-site and they're replaced nearly every day.

Yep, it was installed and lit up late October of 2018. The sale to CIT just closed in January.

That’s got to be an all time record for a short time that a sign was on top of a building. I think the upper floors of this building have some of Omaha’s best views.

Renovation is really going strong for the hotel portion of the building. I hated to see them remove the the oak trees located on the NW corner, hopefully they make up for it with something special.

Drove by today, renovations are moving along nicely. Good to see new life pumped into this 30 year old building. I’ve always thought this is one of Omaha’s better downtown buildings and the location is excellent between DT and the Old Market. I like it better than the twin towered Central Park plaza which was built about 7 years earlier.
