Re: Countryside Village (87th and Pacific)
I noticed that Countryside Village has absolutely no holiday decorations or lighting this year. This has got to be a first. Kind of sad.
Re: Countryside Village (87th and Pacific)
A chain craft beer bar called The Casual Pint set to go in. Looks to be based out of Tennessee.
EDIT: Looks like they have a retail portion too.

Re: Countryside Village (87th and Pacific)
The fastest growing franchise in the craft beer industry expands to the Nebraska market.
Kind of sounds more like retail with a bar area...“With nine breweries establishing a substantial craft beer community in the region, the hops are brewing in Omaha and we thrive where the hops are” said Nathan Robinette, president and CEO of The Casual Pint. “Our first Nebraska location gives us another avenue with which to connect with fellow craft beer enthusiasts. We can’t wait to become a part of that community in Omaha.”
Each franchise features hundreds of bottled local, domestic and international brews as well as an ever-changing multi-tap wall for take-home growlers and on-site tastings in a dedicated bar area.

Agreed. Can't wait to check this place out once it opens. I drive by Countryside Village at least 5 days a week.. This would make a potentially nice diversion ...Coyote wrote:The fastest growing franchise in the craft beer industry expands to the Nebraska market.

Lots of dumpsters and leased signs at Countryside. I bet it will be 75% leased when all this build out is done.

Here is the OWH story on that "Casual Pint" that Coyote posted about earlier in the month.

I got my acceptance letter from Countryside Village Art Fair and I noticed they have "Casual Pint" on the map. Its on the south side of the north building about in the middle. Its just a few doors down from Cedar. I drove buy and the liqueur license sign is already posted.

I'm a numbers cruncher and I'm having a hard time making the numbers work on this. You got 11 food trucks at this Food Truckathon. Lets say 1 truck don't make it so you have 10 food trucks. Now if each food truck charges an average of say $10 a meal and we want each food truck to drive away with at least $300 gross then each food truck will have to serve an average of 30 customers. Take that 30 customers times 10 food trucks and you have 300 people needing to attend this event for each food truck to gross $300. I dont know do you get 300 people to stop at that thing? Say you make 300 gross and then you deduct food costs and gas and cost of doing business. I dont see this food truck thing working out for many of those food truck owners but maybe my math needs adjusting.

Re: Countryside Village (87th and Pacific)
You got the Pizza Ranchs, Golden Corals and the Casinos. The Casino buffets are a loss leader and there aint none of the Casinos making a nickel off the buffets. The Golden Coral on 72nd and Sorrenson and the Pizza Ranch on 84th and Center are losing money or breaking even at best. So yeah the buffet business is pretty tough too. I dont know the numbers but I would imagine those buffets have to serve at least 250 meals a day to break even and that aint easy.Coyote wrote:explain to me all you can eat buffets...

2 items:
-Food truck rally postponed due to rainy forecast.
-Adam Michael Jewelery going out of business. That's going to leave another hole in the front row of shops, and make this shopping center feel even more empty. While I love that they're bringing in new businesses (Casual Pint, Cedar, Timber), they're really upsetting the apple cart, and forcing out many of their longtime tenants, and ending up with net lower occupancy...

The abbreviated food truck rally actually went pretty well considering the back and forth and only three trucks. I wouldn't be surprised if they gave it another go.

Papered windows all over the place at Countryside. Lots of action and signs of life! Out with the old and in with the new.

I heard that "Timber" ran in to a few zoning issues with their wood fired grill. Apparently they got some waivers and things should start rolling soon.Slowmaha wrote:Papered windows all over the place at Countryside. Lots of action and signs of life! Out with the old and in with the new.

A little google image search tells me that that pictured grill is from Bazaar Meat at the SLS Las Vegas. There is a photo of it in the story I linked below and if you do an image search for the exact image from above you will find the same image a few places on the net that tie it to this restaurant.

Web site for the restaurant

Probably will not see one of these at Countryside Village

Look for a Jewish style deli to open in the former Broadmoor Market space by September or October.
Re: Countryside Village (87th and Pacific)
Nice! I was wondering what the dumpster was doing out front of Broadmoor the last week or two. I was going to ask on here, but kept forgetting.... Thanks for the info.nativeomahan wrote:Look for a Jewish style deli to open in the former Broadmoor Market space by September or October.

It's official, and construction has begun on "Swartz's Delicatessen". Also, work on "The Fold" - not sure what type of business this is, on the front row of businesses.nativeomahan wrote:Look for a Jewish style deli to open in the former Broadmoor Market space by September or October.
Sadly though, it looks like little to no work has happened in either the Timber or Casual Pint spaces. Something must be up with Timber, as I noticed they had to refile/post their liquor license application notice (as of 7/25), so I wonder if there was a need for additional investors...

Lots of activity in the village today!
Causal Pint put up a sign in the window!
1. Swartz's has ripped off the back of the old grocery store
2. Timber has a Pod, a dumpster and a construction light inside

Briefly met the owner of Swartz's this weekend. Construction on pace for an Oct 4 opening. Love how it was the last place announced, and first to open, of the recent Countryside additions.
Also, website is up: http://swartzsdeli.com/ Promises to be about as authentic a Jewish deli as can be had. It'll be interesting to see if they do their own bagels, or if they partner up with Bagel Bin...

Anything new on The Casual Pint?
Re: Countryside Village (87th and Pacific)
Per Countryside Village's FB page, drywall was delivered on 9/9 for the build out, so slow progress is being made. From looking at Casual Pint layouts elsewhere (its a franchise), after the keg fridge is built, its basically just a big rectangular box of a store with coolers, shelves, and bar, so if they're actually doing drywall now, it shouldn't take them long, as there's really not much to be constructed, as I'd assume the cooler/tap system, and all utilities are already in.BPHusker wrote:Anything new on The Casual Pint?
