Re: Countryside Village (87th and Pacific)
I got notice from Security National Bank that they are planning on closing their Countryside Village branch soon. It's sad to see this place going downhill, but maybe it will all work out in the long run. It would be a great property for a new mixed use project.

Security National Bank - 35th & Farnam is building a $6.1M old location/new building, so I wonder if they planned on closing/relocating branches along with this addition, and Countryside just so happened to not be in their plans...
Re: Countryside Village (87th and Pacific)
Yeah, it seems like everyone is abandoning the place all at once. When it rains, it pours. With all of the new developments, there's going to be some cannibalization and places like Countryside seem to be taking the biggest hit.OmahaOmaha wrote:I got notice from Security National Bank that they are planning on closing their Countryside Village branch soon. Re: Countryside Village (87th and Pacific)
I heard today that there may be two restaurants seriously looking at Countryside Village! One was Italian. That would be a great add to the area!

Re: Countryside Village (87th and Pacific)
It sure would, Brad. We both could walk there to dinner!
Re: Countryside Village (87th and Pacific)
I also heard a wine bar is looking and an upscale barber/lounge.. hopefully some cool new businesses find their way there.
Re: Countryside Village (87th and Pacific)
Long time lurker but first time poster here! I live in the neighborhood and noticed the old Bookworm's north doors have been painted a royal blue. Nothing else in the center appears to have been painted like that. Sorry the picture is from my phone so it doesn't do the color much justice - the blue definitely stands out! Any idea what's going on?

Thanks for the welcome, Coyote!
Keeping my fingers crossed that something is set to go in there, other than optical illusion doors...
Re: Countryside Village (87th and Pacific)
There is a sign that says "leased" hanging on the window of the bay just west of the alterations place. No indication (at least from what I can tell) about what's going in there. Has anybody heard anything?
Re: Countryside Village (87th and Pacific)
Countryside Village has changed management a couple of times in the last few years. Now that Lerner has it I hope it will improve faster.
I like Lerner's annual market summary if you're interested in retail - http://lernerco.com/post/retail_market_ ... ersary.pdf

Thanks for sharing, taken. I enjoyed looking at it. I agree - hopefully things start moving faster now that Lerner is managing it.taken wrote:Countryside Village has changed management a couple of times in the last few years. Now that Lerner has it I hope it will improve faster.

Noticed today that there's a "leased" sign on the old Cherry Berry space as well!
Re: Countryside Village (87th and Pacific)
Hate to dominate this thread but I wanted to share that there is a liquor license notice for "Cedar" on a bay in the middle strip. An initial search shows that the license was applied for through "Go Vines LLC"....maybe a new wine bar?

Re: Countryside Village (87th and Pacific)
That would be fantastic. I hope we hear a formal announcement from somebody on this soon.
Re: Countryside Village (87th and Pacific)
Middle of the strip? There have been "leased" signs on the Cherry Berry spot for a couple weeks now, is it going there?

8726 - the former Party Patch
It will be called Cedar, owned by Nicholas J O'Conner.

Re: Countryside Village (87th and Pacific)
Seems like a good area for that.
Re: Countryside Village (87th and Pacific)
So any idea what is moving in to the Cherry Berry spot then?

Re: Countryside Village (87th and Pacific)
According to some recently updated leading information from Lerner Co., it looks like the old Cherry Berry is going to be "Dennison Dahlman Spirited Barbers"...they have a Facebook page (albeit, without much info) but it says they are a lounge and barbershop.Brad wrote:So any idea what is moving in to the Cherry Berry spot then?
(Slowmaha was right on back in March with the wine bar and upscale barber info!)

Word is Cedar's liquor license was approved by the city council last week.

Either I have bad eyes, or someone cannot cut a straight line through drywall
Re: Countryside Village (87th and Pacific)
My assumption based on the five junction boxes surrounding the hole, something is going to cover it. The cut doesn't need to be straight in those circumstances.bbinks wrote:Either I have bad eyes, or someone cannot cut a straight line through drywall

She-la relocating to Sterling Ridge, per the OWH... Yet another opening that'll need to be filled.
Re: Countryside Village (87th and Pacific)
It's almost as if the grandson wants it to fail. Either that or he is absolutely horrible at business things.

Can't it be both?ThatGuy wrote:It's almost as if the grandson wants it to fail. Either that or he is absolutely horrible at business things.
Re: Countryside Village (87th and Pacific)
Sure it can. That's actually what I'd put $ on.
Re: Countryside Village (87th and Pacific)
There was a bit in the OWH today about the new barber shop that's going into the former Cherry Berry.

Re: Countryside Village (87th and Pacific)
I believe Countryside is in the midst of a transition. There are two new and interesting businesses with signed leases and rumors that a couple restaurants are very close to signing. I know folks are resistant to change, but I believe a move away from grandma knick-knack stores is absolutely the right way to go for countryside.
Re: Countryside Village (87th and Pacific)
2 new "LEASED" signs on the North building. The wine and barber shop buildouts are coming along Signs of life!
Re: Countryside Village (87th and Pacific)
My wife said the Railcar people are opening Wood fired pizza place in the old bookworm spot! Another solid addition to the neighborhood!

Apparently its not Pizza...
Adam Michael Jewelry wrote: Timber is a wood-fired grill, that is true. But the concept is not Pizza. It will have a french flair and is owned by the same folks that started Railcar. There are a bunch of other great things in the works as well! I will update as soon as things get etched in stone. Things are looking up for Countryside Village!

Re: Countryside Village (87th and Pacific)
Not visible at all from the street because it's in the middle of the place. They have no Facebook, no Twitter or any type of internet presence that I can find. They have been open a couple weeks and the only reason I know that is because there was a small blurb in the paper today. Super great business plan.Coyote wrote:8726 - the former Party Patch

Re: Countryside Village (87th and Pacific)
yeah, that's really strange. Other than eomaha and one neighbor on our neighborhood's next door site, I have heard absolutely nothing about this place.
