I got notice from Security National Bank that they are planning on closing their Countryside Village branch soon. It's sad to see this place going downhill, but maybe it will all work out in the long run. It would be a great property for a new mixed use project.

Security National Bank - 35th & Farnam is building a $6.1M old location/new building, so I wonder if they planned on closing/relocating branches along with this addition, and Countryside just so happened to not be in their plans...

Yeah, it seems like everyone is abandoning the place all at once. When it rains, it pours. With all of the new developments, there's going to be some cannibalization and places like Countryside seem to be taking the biggest hit.

I heard today that there may be two restaurants seriously looking at Countryside Village! One was Italian. That would be a great add to the area!

I also heard a wine bar is looking and an upscale barber/lounge.. hopefully some cool new businesses find their way there.

Long time lurker but first time poster here! I live in the neighborhood and noticed the old Bookworm's north doors have been painted a royal blue. Nothing else in the center appears to have been painted like that. Sorry the picture is from my phone so it doesn't do the color much justice - the blue definitely stands out! Any idea what's going on?

There is a sign that says "leased" hanging on the window of the bay just west of the alterations place. No indication (at least from what I can tell) about what's going in there. Has anybody heard anything?

Countryside Village has changed management a couple of times in the last few years. Now that Lerner has it I hope it will improve faster.

Thanks for sharing, taken. I enjoyed looking at it. I agree - hopefully things start moving faster now that Lerner is managing it.

Noticed today that there's a "leased" sign on the old Cherry Berry space as well!

Hate to dominate this thread but I wanted to share that there is a liquor license notice for "Cedar" on a bay in the middle strip. An initial search shows that the license was applied for through "Go Vines LLC"....maybe a new wine bar?

According to some recently updated leading information from Lerner Co., it looks like the old Cherry Berry is going to be "Dennison Dahlman Spirited Barbers"...they have a Facebook page (albeit, without much info) but it says they are a lounge and barbershop.

(Slowmaha was right on back in March with the wine bar and upscale barber info!)

My assumption based on the five junction boxes surrounding the hole, something is going to cover it. The cut doesn't need to be straight in those circumstances.

I believe Countryside is in the midst of a transition. There are two new and interesting businesses with signed leases and rumors that a couple restaurants are very close to signing. I know folks are resistant to change, but I believe a move away from grandma knick-knack stores is absolutely the right way to go for countryside.

My wife said the Railcar people are opening Wood fired pizza place in the old bookworm spot! Another solid addition to the neighborhood!

Not visible at all from the street because it's in the middle of the place. They have no Facebook, no Twitter or any type of internet presence that I can find. They have been open a couple weeks and the only reason I know that is because there was a small blurb in the paper today. Super great business plan.
