The cemetery will cover 236 acres and will be capable of holding 112,000 graves. The Veterans Administration plans to have the first 35 acres developed and divided into 5,000 graves by the fall.

Well i guess you can serve and not die in war rather old age but these cemeteries usually are full of soldiers killed in battle.RNcyanide wrote:Why do you say that?MTO wrote:This is the first project I hope never gets occupied.

‘National shrine’ inches closer to completion; dedication scheduled for August, first burials expected in September
Hard to see much detail from this image, but this will be the layout:The VA will take over the first 37 acres of the cemetery on Aug. 17. It will include three burial sections with space for both casketed and cremated remains, as well as temporary buildings for committal services, honor guards, maintenance workers and administrative offices.
By 2018, the larger initial phase will be complete, including more than 5,000 gravesites, permanent buildings, a flagpole assembly area, a memorial walkway and public information center with an electronic gravesite locator.
