24 Hour Fitness, San Ramon, California, has sold its 19 clubs in Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska and Oklahoma to Genesis Health Clubs, Wichita, Kansas, for an undisclosed amount. The changeover will be effective on June 15, according to Frank Napolitano, president of 24 Hour Fitness.

Rodney Steven, owner of Genesis Health Clubs, told Club Industry that after the transaction closed with 24 Hour, he turned around and sold the four 24 Hour Fitness clubs in St. Louis, Missouri, and the two locations in Oklahoma City to Gold's Gym International for a sum he could not disclose. Steven also shared that he purchased six clubs from Gold's Gym on Tuesday: two in Lincoln, Nebraska, two in Omaha, Nebraska, and two in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

24 Hour and Gold's Gym are no mas in Omaha. Big purchase by a regional company in Wichita, brands turnover at midnight apparently.

In KC they are reporting that Genesis is going to do millions in upgrades at the former 24 hour locations there. Hopefully they do the same here.

I'm not surprised by this at all. I've heard rumblings that 24 has been doing poorly for the last few years. The flier I saw there today said current members won't have their membership changed, and they will have the same hours of operation.
