It looks like "TC ACCOMMODATOR 70 LLC" Now owns the club, the strip mall to its east, the Jimmy Johns, and also the Firestone tire south of it.

Anybody know how long it's been there as a strip club? For some reason I think in the 80's it was more of a regular bar with bands but could be wrong.

Unclear on that. I do know as far back as the early 80's, they were booking nationally touring bands to play there. I saw Jazz-Fusion band Spyro Gyra play The 20's on their "City Kids" tour in 1983...

I was wondering when that would come up. Just happened to be in the neighborhood. I will admit to having been in there every now and then though....

Earliest I can remember being in there as a strip club was 1998, and I think it had been that way for a few years at least.

My friends sister used to be a go go girl at the 20's back in the mid to late 90's. Last I heard she is still hooked on meth and had to have a hip replacement and now is on social security disability and resides at The Omaha Housing Authority tower on 59th & Radial Highway.......In the mid 80's the 20's was just a regular bar that was not to busy so they put in a sound system that cost two or three hundred thousand dollars to play the new music videos and it drew people for a year or two and the it went dead again. Then in the late 80's they started booking live bands who often were not that good and it did not work to well either. Sometime in the early 90's they opened a back room off the main room and made it a go go bar. Long story short the Sheeple were not that enamored with the fancy sound system or the live acts but they sure loved those go go girls. So the place became a go go bar!

Friend of mine used to drive the shuttles at the Hilton and has a pretty funny story about driving John Mayer to the 20's after he did a show at CLC.

Just saw on channel 7 that this is being reopened as an all nude strip club. Don't think too many wives are going to think much of that idea.

NIMBY right guys.

This is great news. This will be a huge success if it is allowed to go forward. Are we still trying to stop adults from harmless fun because we want to impose our puritanical views on our fellow citizens.

Why were you not a customer when it was open? Skin bars are a bad thing to have in a part of the town you are trying to develop. You want businesses that people are willing to go to and not places that attract the wrong crowd.

Shane Harrington originally from Lincoln is the owner. He originally got started when his wife Melissa and him started a website. From there he tried to open a bar but Lincoln would not give him a liquor license. After numerous years and attempts he decided to give up that idea and opened three strip clubs in western Nebraska. Most if not all are just outside of city limits.

While people may not like the industry he does run a clean business. Not drugs, drinking, stealing, escorting, fighting are very strictly enforced. He seems like a very good businessman.

Is this the same guy who tried to open a club in Grand Island but couldn't so he fought Hall County with help from a lawyer from New York with no credential to practice law in Nebraska?

Its one thing to have a skin bar in the outskirts of town, but to have one a half block south of the Crossroads, where we are contemplating spending huge money on redeveloping it, means we get another variable that makes it harder to attract outside investment. What happens when Google or some Banking firm comes to town to look at that space for an office, and some coastal feminist is the person leading the advance team? Omaha is a hick town will be all she tells people.

This will definitely be a setback for other redevelopment in the area, including Crossroads. I'll bet there will be some really strong resistance, even though it has already been a strip club before. It doesn't seem like a done deal at all, given they plan on totally nude dancing, but no alcohol sales on site. I'm sure there will be a mad scramble to change laws to prevent it, if it's not too late.

I don't know if it's been mentioned on another thread, but the club started out as a nostalgia club for people who wanted to celebrate the 1920's. I believe it's original name was The Roaring 20's. My uncle opened it in the 1960's, and it became a hugely popular hangout for my parents' generation; people born in the early 1900's and after, especially those who came of age in the 1920's, the Depression and WW2. Lot's of live music and sing-along type stuff. I know the original sign survived long after the original theme died out.

I don't know about making it harder to attract in that area. Downtown Denver has a least on strip joint within two blacks of the convention center.

Folks are already mobilizing against this through the Nextdoor app in the Dundee area. Not exactly their neck of the woods but that's where the resistance seems to be building that I can see.

I have been in a Strip Club a few miles from the Google campus in California. Also you think an Exec. from a banking firm, from New York or Boston has never seen a Strip Club?

This is solely an issue of people who want to use their holy book to beat people into submission.

Downtown Denver could have gay snuff films showing on the walls of mosques and get away with it. Try saying you don't like Denver sometime.

Silicon valley can operate on a plantation slave economy and get away with it.

Of course there are strippers and no one complains.

We are not those places. Try recruiting a high level professional from Cali or NYC. We have image problems. A strip club in the middle of the city will be a problem for us.

I've been in HR/Recruiting for over 20 years. Trying to figure out how that comes into play at all....

When recruiting to Omaha, places like strip clubs aren't the problem. It's name recognition, stereo types, no ocean/mountains, different pay scale....

Yes, telling potential employees "from Cali or NYC" that as Godly warriors we have driven all the evil strippers and gamblers across the river, isn't the message that is going to convince them Omaha isn't Hickville.

I haven't been to a strip club since about 1994 and have had zero desire to frequent one in more than 2 decades..

That said, I really don't see this development as a hindrance to growth in retail/business in the area. It wasn't before and it won't be now imo...

It remains to be seen, but you may be right. However, this club is a bit different than most strip clubs in that they will have totally nude dancing, which is apparently allowed with the way the laws are written if they are not selling liquor on-site, like a typical bar. G-strings are required if they sell liquor, if I'm not mistaken. People will be able to bring in their own alcohol, apparently.

The CenturyLink Center is 1.1 miles away from the same type of establishment. I don't see North Downtown development slowing down because of it. No one seems to care that one of the first businesses you see when leaving the airport is a strip club. The 20's is hidden off the main streets and unless they put a neon girl on the sign along 72nd I don't think people will notice.

I could be wrong (of course).. But completely nude or down to the G-string, I still don't see this as a hinderance to development in the area.. We'll see how this all shakes out. The place may end up never getting off the ground :) ...
