Because businessmen (and some businesswomen...) don't like to see dancing naked women, ever.
Never ever.
Never ever.

That crossed my mind, but at my age it kept on going!Ebburkrevus wrote:After seeing the name Harrington I put two and two together and realized this guy is the husband of Melissa Midwest who was pretty big in the early 2000's for posing topless in public areas.
from OWH articleCoyote wrote:I do not claim to know any city laws regarding strip clubs, but it appears this is getting around the spirit of city laws. Is it because it is a private club or because it is a BYOB club... Or both?
Something that bothers me about this is that a good ol' fashioned strip club, where they keep their clothes on, might actually have some women just looking for part-time work and good money to get through college or something. But full-nudity would lead me to speculate that the majority of "performers" might be trying to support a drug habit of some kind. What kind of self-esteem do you have to have to degrade yourself by taking all of your clothes off in front of strangers?Coyote wrote:I do not claim to know any city laws regarding strip clubs, but it appears this is getting around the spirit of city laws. Oh, yeah, I'm sure Mrs. Johnson next door with a college degree, husband, and 2.5 kids is sticking her beaver in stranger's faces on the weekends to the music of "Girls, Girls, Girls." Great way to drum up business for her advertising firm. Like I said, I am just speculating but it seems like a facility that can be an enabler to someone with substance abuse issues. But, yes, it is a free country, thank God, so do what you like.RNcyanide wrote:Orrrrrrr it could just be women who are owning and profiting off their sexuality. That did happen. I think around 2001-2005.. It was awhile ago. I don't remember a thread though. I'll have to search around...Coyote wrote:Not long ago, didn't a UNO student do a project here and turn in a paper as to who were the type of women working here? Do we have a thread on that?
And national organizations say that many of these girls and women work at strip clubs. Hopefully if the city decides to take some action it is to provide assistance to eradicate slavery maybe funded by taxes on the clubs. From our work, we can say that the known number of Nebraska school girls who become victims
of sex trafficking is at least 47 per year. We are certain, based on the fact that our methodology,
in order to avoid any possibility of overestimating, deliberately underestimates the number of
Nebraska school girl victims, and that the true number is probably double this or greater. In
addition, since it was infeasible to try to estimate the number of adults, males, and non-
Nebraskans who are sex trafficking victims, the total number of sex trafficking victims in the
state is certainly much higher.
Hopefully, the nice FBI agents on this taskforce will regularly travel from their HQ on 120th and Hellcreek to this place and make sure that the ladies who work there really are just "paying their way through nursing school."Dundeemaha wrote:According to the Nebraska Task Force on Human Trafficking

Ahh now I remember. This was from 10 years ago. Jenny was a barista at a Starbucks I used to frequent back in the early 2000's. She was a UNO student at the time. A real nice person..I hope she is doing well...Coyote wrote:From May 2007: Get to Know your Local Stripper -- KETV and CNN, however, all Jenny says is that they were mostly single mothers...
LB632, which is the one that had the Nebraska Brewers up in arms last month, included language on "Bottle Clubs" which I believe would apply in this situation. Based on the changes proposed, it appears that no license is currently required.Coyote wrote:I do not claim to know any city laws regarding strip clubs, but it appears this is getting around the spirit of city laws. KFAB was talking about this on their morning show and they sad that Shane Harrington has moved to Spain. I may be wrong on the country but that is what I remember them saying.GrandpaaSmucker wrote: ↑Thu Jan 24, 2019 3:56 pm It said in the paper yesterday that Stormy Daniels the porn ho helping to destroy Trump is going to be in Omaha performing at the old 20's in a couple of weeks.

What a crazy world we live in huh? That guy (Shane Harrington)that owns this place is an epic sleazeball no doubt about that. Wonder how much hes paying her. You figure plane tickets and expenses plus her fee has got to be a minimum of 10,000 bucks.
You're correct. He lives in Spain. His lease on the 20s is almost up too, from my understanding. (For the record - never been there, but he did buy his Omaha house from someone I know.)nebugeater wrote: ↑Thu Jan 24, 2019 4:51 pmKFAB was talking about this on their morning show and they sad that Shane Harrington has moved to Spain. I am guessing you are way off on the fee. They also said she is able to avoid the "toch" laws in many places because she is not an employee of the establishments. This was info from Jim Rose so guessing he has the knowledge . My guess is that she is a private contractor working off tips with a small fee to the establishment. .

From what I have read - he wanted to buy the building and fix it up. The current owner (who he rents from) said he didn't want to sell the building. So, yes, the current location will go away.

I'm a bit young to remember - but wasn't American Dream (the location he's moving to), a strip club of sorts?

Mancuso Dental just moved in to the last building on the corner. They own it too, so it’s not like they would be forced out at the end of a lease.Busguy2010 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 05, 2020 6:02 pm It's been gone for ~ a year. I was surprised to see Geo's had moved.
