So, Uffda texted me with a sleuthing request. I won't tell you what he told me, I will let Uffda fIll that in, but,

I don't know how I missed this... There is a remodel of a Village Point bay, where I think Z Gallery used to be, the remodel is for a $3.5m project for a "Electronics STORE - Retail". Could Apple be moving across the street?

They did just create a new concept for their store designs that they put in display in San Fran. Is omaha really important enough to receive the new design this soon or did the cards line up perfectly with that space being open in Village Pointe?

How long has Apple been in that bay? Aren't they due by Apple standards for a remodel?

I think the one in Des Moines has the new store concept already.

Apple has been there since Sept 2006. The store has has minor renovations but it is due for a big one and I think you found it. :D

Apple is moving full steam ahead and store remodels and expansions. It's not exclusive to major markets like San Francisco. Jacksonville's new store that is opening this Saturday (relocated and larger than original) and next up is Grand Rapids.

The typical update cycle for an Store is 11 years.

Was at Village Pointe today and the space is gutted inside and out. It's now just a roof with supports and a back wall. Looks like Apple will be changing everything to fit with their new design, even the facade and windows. Will be a big store and very bright since it's on a corner.

Today I saw the light-guage steel surrounding the new store for construction, so which of the new designs would fit into this shell ?

Any guesses ?

How far does apple typically announce in advance to opening? I would guess this store would be opening in the next couple of months and I do not believe there has been anything officially announced.

Inside isn't completely done yet, drywall is up though, I don't think there is much paint or anything. The apple employees have been very sketchy about this and deny they're moving.

I think that is because of Apple's NDA with their employees.

Must be getting closer, an Apple employee told me this weekend that they are getting a new store but no opening date set yet. I noticed they have taken down the Blue plywood around the front and now have the opening covered in white.

I took a photo but I used Photobucket in the past to store and post and they now have a fee to post my photos to third party sites...

Not related to the remodel, but last Monday afternoon I visited the Apple Store at Village Pointe to buy a smartcover for my recently purchased iPad Pro 10.5.. and the place was absolutely packed. This was around 4 pm on a Monday afternoon. I had to wait over 5 minutes just to find a free Apple employee to check me out for my purchase.. In the past, when I've visited this store for a purchase, it's always been on a weekend day-Sat or Sun- and the store was always busy. I atributed that to the weekends when most of us consumers are off work.. But I, frankly, was surprised to see the store so busy on a Monday afternoon..a day and time I thought I could zip in and zip out..

Doubling the size of Omaha's Apple Store would be a welcome addition...

Congrats on your new iPad, I have the o.g. Pro wanna trade. It’s true that place is always a zoo I hope it’s way more than double the size. heck the Jordan Creek spot is way bigger than even that.

As a side to the discussion..

Thanks! I updated from an iPad Air 2 and believe me, it is a worthy upgrade..

The Air 2 was a great device for the nearly 3 years I used it (and still is).. But this new iPad Pro 10.5 is as fast or faster than many laptops and it just runs smooth as silk. The screen is the best I've ever seen on a tablet. Once iOS11 rolls out in the next few weeks, this device will be an absolute beast!...

If Apple keeps making products like this, they may have to quadruple the space for a new, refreshed Omaha store :) ...

The store at the St Johns Town Center (pictured above) took almost 8 months from the time they started gutting the building until the time they opened. It seemed like it took forever.

They just called me to pick up my computer on Friday, so they could have everything moved into their new location by Saturday (September 2nd). They seemed awfully concerned about packaging for moving such a short distance, but it was probably meant to expedite the pick up. My conversations with Apple employees almost always come off as sketchy, and that's without any attempts to pry into their business.

Are you certain about that? Do you have the store square foot dimensions comparing the new store at VP and the one you are comparing it to? Further, if indeed it is bigger, does that mean it's better? Does it mean they have more of what Apple has to offer?? I wish I knew the monthly and annual sales figures for both these stores.. I mean, if one store is double the size, they must do double the volume..

Right? ...

Not sure of sq ft on either but Looking at the Jordan creek store photo it is wider - 8 tables wide and 2 tables deep. Village pointe is 4 tables wide and 4 deep.

Never been to Jordan Creek or Des Moines (driven through) for that matter. But the tables look very similar sized based on the product I can see on the tables in this photo.
