OK, Thanks

I guess it depends if the Younkers (now Bon-Ton) landlord wants to drag the decision through the courts? Isn't it possible that it could be years before this case is resolved?

Why would you send your head brewere to Scotland to become a Master Brewer? Everyone knows the Germans are THE biersiedermeisters!

Read the W-H story link posted on this thread last week..

From the May 12th W-H story:

'Douglas County District Court Judge J Russell Derr ruled that the project (Cheesecake Factory) would not "materially adversely affect" the Younkers department store at the Westroads, rejecting arguments by owners of adjacent property that the restaurant would take up too many parking spots and make the Younkers store less visible to shoppers.

Derr ordered parties in the case to take steps that would resolve the dispute, which has delayed the start of the restaurant project for at least six months. Derr said his order was not final in the case but he would consider making a final order.

Howard Gordon, senior vice president of the Cheesecake Factory, said a lease had not been signed. "We're in discussions with the landlord."'

Most likely, it might take a couple of months to iron out the agreement..But a free standing Cheescake Factory at Westroads will be realized (FINALLY)..And we all could be eating at that restaurant by next spring/summer..

Just the news we've ALL been waiting SOOOOO long for..

Whew (as Cowboy wipes the sweats from his face..This has been a LONG 9 month thread since the rumor).. :D ..

I knew they were going to win the case, but excellent news none the less. How about another forum meet when it opens and Jeff can pick up the bill, I'm sure it would be the biggest turnout in eomaha history.

I'll see where I am financially by that time. What's a few hundred dollars between friends. But seriously, I think we should all go on an unofficial meet and pay for ourselves.

I wonder if the Don had anything to do with landing the CF? He is very powerful after all.
But yeah I am down with making some of our micro meets at the CF sometime. I suppose between me and the Don that will be neutral ground.

Nice, now just build it already! :D I'm also really glad that this is going to be at Westroads as opposed to way the heck out west (ie Village Point, etc). I know that the Westroads isn't exactly downtown but it still helps counter "the westward momentum".

The W-H now has their write up for the Wednesday AM paper (to be found in the business section):

From the W-H story:

'Attention, Cheesecake Factory fans: You should be able to enjoy a meal and a slice of the restaurant's rich, indulgent dessert later this year when the chain opens its first location in Nebraska at Westroads Mall.

The 10,209-square-foot restaurant is scheduled to open by late fall, said Alie Hrabe, marketing manager for Westroads at 102nd Street and West Dodge Road. Construction is expected to begin in the next few weeks in the southwest section of the mall parking lot.'..

I'm sure there are a lot of people happy about this. I think the location is a disaster. I'm also more for local/Omaha born and bred restaraunts. If we were going to get a CF I wish it had gone to Ak-Sar-Ben, downtown, or if they had to be out west, at Village Pointe or on West Maple.

Driving by the Westroads today and noticed that the area where CF will be build is partitioned off with barriers. Looks like the parking is gone for now and construction will start soon.

Do they still have plans of moving the Food court to the old Younkers building? It's really too bad Cheese Cake didn't go into the current food court location.
