I was thinking the other day as i was driving my westroads, they need to redo that parking lot. It is basically a bunch of unevenly laid concrete. It really is ugly. With this CF,Granite City and that rumored movie theater at westroads, maybe they need to think about redoing the parking area. With all these nice resteraunts and such developing around the area, it really looks bad to have this ugly, poorly landscaped (basically unlandscaped) parking lot.

No doubt... I have always been thinking that General Growth should use this opportunity (along with the purported movie theatre addition) to add in some pedestrian friendly landscaping as well. It's not like we need a 'lake' like Jordan Creek... but certainly some water features and sitting areas bridging the mall and these outlying restaurants, would do wonders. Perhaps the addition of a parking garage on the north end would be helpful as well.

Excellent pic update Brad..

My sister, who lives in Texas, visited me this Labor Day weekend..We drove by the Cheesecake Factory site at Westroads and she told me this Omaha restaurant was bigger than the one she's eaten in at the Dallas location on Northwest HWY..

According to their website, they are now accepting applications for the Omaha location. One step closer to opening.

For the independent building ones, it seems to be. They vary a lot though... The two here are in the hancock building and the mall near my house. The hancock one is all copper metal look outside, and the mall one is pretty plain. KC has one in the plaza that's also pretty regular looking.

Actually, I think the one in The Plaza looks rather sharp, with it's bell tower and all.

Just FYI
Westroads has the openings for Cheesecake Factory and Granite City on their website

Granite City Food & Brewery Grand Opening

Westroads Mall is proud to welcome Granite City Food & Brewery. The casual dining restaurant, which features made-from-scratch food and handcrafted beers, offers a broad menu with traditional and regional foods served in generous portions and reasonable prices. Granite City will open at Westroads Mall on October 10, 2006.

The Cheesecake Factory Grand Opening

Adding to Westroads Mall's already great restaurant lineup, The Cheesecake Factory will open at the Mall on November 1, 2006. The Cheesecake Factory is a unique, upscale casual dining restaurant offering more than 200 menu selections including Appetizers, Pizza, Pasta, Seafood, Steaks, Salads, Sandwiches, and more. The menu also features specialty dishes like Chicken Madeira, Miso Salmon, Cajun Jambalaya Pasta, The Factory Burger and of course, cheesecake!

Well, yeah, i meant that it's 'regular' in terms of looking like the rest of the plaza, as opposed to something cheesecakey specific. :)

Uh, I probably can't even afford myself. If I sell a condo by then I'll buy, but that's unlikely considering the time frame.

How about Huston picking up the tab again? I'm only kidding Jeff, thanks for the soup. :D

26 out of 55 have been reserved so far. We're waiting for a few more before we go to contract. Wait, I shouldn't say "We're" yet considering I haven't got my license yet (just need to pass that darn test), but you know what I mean.

Keeping things realitive to the subject at hand, I really hope Cheesecake makes a great profit further proving Omaha can handle the big guys and then some. :D

Wow, they require calc for a business degree these days? How many semesters? Here I thought they were relaxing math prereqs.

Do you by any chance know Roger Sindt? He's my mom's cousin's husband (hmm, what does that make him to me?)... I think he's near or at the top of the real estate program in UNO's business department.

Yep, one semester of calc. That suprised me as well.

Nope, I haven't really started my degree yet. I'm doing the prereqs right now and am currently at metro. It's taking longer than expected to get through everything, this is my third year (each year at a new school) and should already be taking the real deal classes and not these history, math, english, and science courses. I'm getting through it though. I'm sure I'll meet Rodger when I'm at UNO.

They have for a while. It was required in Lincoln in 1995. However, they have a "business calc" class which is dumbed down for the business students.

heck, I have to take a certain level of math class and I'm getting my degree in Fine Arts. The class I am taking is college algebra, which is a lot harder than I remember algebra being when I took it in junior high. :?
