Looking good. Hopefully this will help spur some more growth to the north....or is it true what I heard somewhere that Omaha can't grow too far north due to some situation with...the terrain? Either way, it's a naturally pretty area and deserves better than the industrial |expletive| that's currently up there.

Aside from the industrial plant it replaced... I can't really think of any other industrial areas in this part of Omaha. I'd say Sorenson Park Plaza will indeed help make this part of the metro become that much more desirable. This area sat rather stagnant for years... yet if you've driven by recently, you'll note many new rooftops moving quickly towards 680. If you're into big expansive metros with multiple independent market areas... this, plus Shadow Lake Town Center should signal Omaha's 'arrival'.

You are right Jeff, The only industrial I can think of up here is the Vickers plant which is no more. There is a big area just west of the NW corner of Wenninghoff and Sorensen that looks like it is being prepared for a new housing development although I havent seen any signs put up.

I think that was suppose to be on the NE corner --- they did a lot of dirt moving and then it sat last fall. This spring the land was put up for sale again.

The land I am talking about is to the west of here across Wenninghoff and up on the hill.

Also I just looked at the developers website and they have added a Regis Hair and a Anytime Fitness to an area out in the parking lot listed as shops

Anybody know what the right hand part of Target is? Looks like glass and maybe a door? They have that same part on the new Crossroads store.

Greg, the door you are seeing is the door that leads into the breakroom. This store is a different layout from the Crossroads store. It does have a Pizza Hut express and starbucks inside as well as the crossroads store. Softlines is on the left and Hardlines is on the right. Crossroads differs as where their hardlines department wraps their softlines (clothing.) Gotta come check it out.

Hey the new Target is open! We were bored and drove up by there tonight. Very Nice! They have a lot more electronic things there and some other things I have not seen in any of the other stores here in town.
They have quite a few groceries also the whole north wall of the store is grocery aisles. With many freezers with most anything you would buy in a regular supermarket and shelves of dry goods even bread, milk, butter, cheese etc. No bakery, produce or meat items though. I wasn't expecting to see that much grocery stuff.

It seemed like a lot more movies and books also.

As I drove by there this afternoon, I saw some new digging taking place. I checked out the developers web site and that pad is listed as site of an AppleBees now.

Okay I inherited a digital camera and this is my first attempt at this. S.O bought a new Sony so I get the HP Photosmart 850. I know I am not a very good photographer but thought you might like to see these.

The first two are at Wenninghoff's when I was buying veggies today.

 Thanks to both of you. I know you're being kind I have never been very good at pics. I have a whole drawer full with the kids' heads cut off.
I am thinking about taking a class whenever I have some time.
I did see that Famous Footwear, Linens and Things and the Card Factory are all open now. Not sure when they opened I usually go another way to work instead of up 72nd so had not been by for awhile.

New Retail Plaza
Sorensen shopping center open for business

Don't let all the construction work fool you as you drive by the new Sorensen Park Plaza; there are already new stores completed and open for business.
But the new retail plaza is up and running, and for many in north central Omaha, it is a welcome change from the old Vickers plant.
There is also a link to the video story

I worked at Linens N'Things for an hour a few weeks ago and quit. I thought a part time job would be fun. What was I thinking.

I was here the other day and a new building is going up east of the Target.. almost finished it looks like. Taco Bueno the other buildings in the middle of the south part of the area appear to be close to being finished also but I didn't see any signs on anything indicating what might be going in there.

Not sure about your directions ---- Taco Bueno is east of Target.  They have built four buildings in a plaza design but according to their website --- nothing is listed as being in there.

  Sorry!
What I meant not what I said. I meant to put the Taco Bueno in the same sentence as east of Target. This is my punishment for reading eomaha when I didn't have enough time before a meeting.

Does anyone have any insight as to tenants of the almost completed cluster of buildings in the middle of the development?

Sorensen Park Plaza shopping center continues to grow
Omaha World Herald wrote:H&R Block and Payless ShoeSource have recently signed agreements for spaces, while Burger King and Jimmy John's Gourmet Sandwiches bought land and are constructing buildings within the center, said developer Jim Otis. Two restaurants also are close to signing leases, Otis said, but he declined to name them.

I read where they had some problems at the theater on Wednesday night.   Not the kind of attention that center wanted going into Xmas season.
