Anybody know what the right hand part of Target is? Looks like glass and maybe a door? They have that same part on the new Crossroads store.

Greg, the door you are seeing is the door that leads into the breakroom. This store is a different layout from the Crossroads store. It does have a Pizza Hut express and starbucks inside as well as the crossroads store. Softlines is on the left and Hardlines is on the right. Crossroads differs as where their hardlines department wraps their softlines (clothing.) Gotta come check it out.

Hey the new Target is open! We were bored and drove up by there tonight. Very Nice! They have a lot more electronic things there and some other things I have not seen in any of the other stores here in town.
They have quite a few groceries also the whole north wall of the store is grocery aisles. With many freezers with most anything you would buy in a regular supermarket and shelves of dry goods even bread, milk, butter, cheese etc. No bakery, produce or meat items though. I wasn't expecting to see that much grocery stuff.

It seemed like a lot more movies and books also.

As I drove by there this afternoon, I saw some new digging taking place. I checked out the developers web site and that pad is listed as site of an AppleBees now.

Okay I inherited a digital camera and this is my first attempt at this. S.O bought a new Sony so I get the HP Photosmart 850. I know I am not a very good photographer but thought you might like to see these.

The first two are at Wenninghoff's when I was buying veggies today.

 Thanks to both of you. I know you're being kind I have never been very good at pics. I have a whole drawer full with the kids' heads cut off.
I am thinking about taking a class whenever I have some time.
I did see that Famous Footwear, Linens and Things and the Card Factory are all open now. Not sure when they opened I usually go another way to work instead of up 72nd so had not been by for awhile.

New Retail Plaza
Sorensen shopping center open for business

Don't let all the construction work fool you as you drive by the new Sorensen Park Plaza; there are already new stores completed and open for business.

But the new retail plaza is up and running, and for many in north central Omaha, it is a welcome change from the old Vickers plant.

I was here the other day and a new building is going up east of the Target.. almost finished it looks like. Taco Bueno the other buildings in the middle of the south part of the area appear to be close to being finished also but I didn't see any signs on anything indicating what might be going in there.

Not sure about your directions ---- Taco Bueno is east of Target.  They have built four buildings in a plaza design but according to their website --- nothing is listed as being in there.

  Sorry!
What I meant not what I said. I meant to put the Taco Bueno in the same sentence as east of Target. This is my punishment for reading eomaha when I didn't have enough time before a meeting.

Does anyone have any insight as to tenants of the almost completed cluster of buildings in the middle of the development?

Omaha World Herald wrote:H&R Block and Payless ShoeSource have recently signed agreements for spaces, while Burger King and Jimmy John's Gourmet Sandwiches bought land and are constructing buildings within the center, said developer Jim Otis. Two restaurants also are close to signing leases, Otis said, but he declined to name them.

I read where they had some problems at the theater on Wednesday night.   Not the kind of attention that center wanted going into Xmas season.

Begins? Everytime I've been up there the police are breaking up fights that large. It's insane. I'm reminded of Chris Rock's line about certain people in movie theaters "This movie's so good I'm gonna bust a cap in it''s |expletive|!"

It is the beginning of negative publicity in the media about what goes on at this mall.  For years in the 1970s and 80s there was a movie theatre operating near 60th and Redick, in a small mall.  Well the customers got out of hand too many times, and the theatre went out of business.  I worry that unless the current theatre owners clamp down hard and fast to stop rioting inside the movie house, the place will go out of business within 12 months.

Maybe it means they stop showing films that appeal to an audience that is likely to cause problems.  That is as delicate as I can say it.

I don't know if Sorensen Park has a "code of conduct" like several larger "lifestyle" malls around town.  Maybe that would be one option.  I hate to see a new mall destroyed by the actions of a few.  But news stories of such occurrences will scare many potential customers away.  It of course is not the news reports that are the problem.  It is the unacceptable behavior being displayed by a small segment of society.

I love how they called it a melee. Im imagining something out of West Side Story, with singing and dancing and fighting.

What movie were they seeing? I bet it was Enchanted. I was actually there on Wednesday seeing Beowulf and there wasnt anyone fighting where I was at.

Golden Corral?  Didn't they just fold their tent on north 90th Street a year or so ago?  Why would they be making another try in the same general neighborhood?

I think is been well documented on here that they were just moving:

The Big Buffet on 11/7/2007 wrote:What if they were just moving? may be a bit further northeast?

And then:

north 72nd street? On 12/6/2007 wrote:north 72nd street?

And then:

old people, north 72nd.

And I still don't like that comment.

Of course I have never eaten at a Golden Corral so I wouldn't know its clientele, but there are a lot of young families up here and Hearthstone is slamming together two subdivisions about a mile from here.

Funny way to "move."  Open a multi-million dollar restaurant site, and close it a few years later.  Then wait a couple of years more, until everyone that used to eat at your place "moves on" to other restaurants, then spend another few million dollars to build another new restaurant just 2 miles away from the place you closed.

I also have never eaten at a Golden Corral.  I prefer not to eat at places with "corral" in their names.

Then wait a couple of years more,

It has only been closed a few months. I also think N 90th location had more streeet traffic by it then N 72nd but the Plaza seems to be picking up more traffic lately.
