I don't think the Runza sandwiches are as qood as they once were, but they still have one of the best Fast Food Drive Through Cheese Burgers in town.
Not to mention the best fries.

Agreed, Runza burgers could be sub-McD's quality and they'd still be worth it for the fries. Plus I can at least try to make myself feel better for eating fast food by telling myself I'm supporting a Nebraska business ;)

Runza's burgers, fries and onion rings are amazing. I haven't noticed a diminishment in the quality of the regular Runza, but I usually get a burger so I might not have a consistent sample from which to draw a conclusion. As for the best Runza location, I really like the one at 108th and Emmet. I have never ever had a less than excellent burger there.

I don't know if this has been talked about on this forum, but, has anyone noticed how they have cut way back on the beef fillings in the Runza sandwich? Yes, I know it is either raising the prices or cutting back on ingredients these days, but I haven't had a good Runza in years. They used to be on my (sigh) Fast Food rotation when desperate, but now if I go there it is usually for their Chicken Strips...

That Runza closes kind of early but it's a nice store. I bet that they only really get a lunch rush.

I do feel like they've cut down the size on the Runzas. They're still really good, just not as satisfying.

Oh yeah they have been slowly scaling down the size of the Runza over the past years. Worse then that is Runza does not use high quality hamburger anymore. The cheap hamburger(pink slime) can be most easily detected by the texture which is much finer then quality hamburger. The fries and onion rings are low quality now too. My advice to the guy driving by the Runza in La Vista would be to go up to the Don & MIllies on 144th and Harrison and get a hamburger there. Surprisingly Don & Millies is one of the few fast food places that use real hamburger. Don't get the fries at Don & Millies though they are Dairy Queen quality nasty. Get the burger, onion rings and a shake at Don & Millies and it will be 3 times better then Runza.

maybe I just went there on a bad day or the Saddle Creek location is just weaker for whatever reason, but the only time I ate at Don and Millies I found it almost unbearably greasy. I normally have a fairly high grease tolerance (I don't dab my pizza, for instance, and can go to town on drunk diner food while stone cold sober in the middle of the afternoon), it's actually one of the few times I can think of when I've actually been bothered by the grease while eating instead of it just coming back to haunt me later. I remember them having good slushee-type drinks, though, but I already have Sonic for the fast food place that I only go to for drinks

Could be wrong, but isn't the bowling alley and entertainment center that was proposed by Werner Park going there?

Was it over by MofO Bank? Northwest side of Cabella's? That's where the Alamo Drafthouse and other retail is going.

Its one the previous page to this thread, before all the Runza talk. Right after the Aerial Photos.

Hey, come on now, that was two months ago, and I yawned at the announcement, and had a few beers since then. Besides, I thought that was going on the Cabela's side (the west side?)

Maybe this was mentioned already but I drive I-80 past Southport daily and noticed they are moving a lot of dirt behind Cabela's as well.

Metro-area hotel offerings to grow by March with extended-stay facility
A My Place Hotel that is rising three stories high in La Vista is expected to open by March.
The economy extended-stay facility at 7823 S. 123rd Plaza will add 64 rooms to the Omaha metropolitan area in time for two major tourist events, the Berkshire Hathaway annual shareholders meeting and the College World Series.

I wonder if Marcus plans on selling that lot they own over there? If not, there's the possibility of two movie theaters at Southport.

I am guessing that they are trying to keep costs for guests low, so they have to build with cheap materials and most people in these probably aren't looking for a ton of amenities anyway.

The sports complex originally planned for Tranquility Park may now go in at Southport or Council Bluffs near the MAC.

Costco submits preliminary plans for 2nd Omaha area store, this one near Cabela's in La Vista
Emily Nohr: World-Herald staff writer wrote: According to preliminary plans, Costco would build a 154,000-square-foot building south of Cabela’s in La Vista’s Southport West development. The plans for the La Vista store call for 20 acres dedicated to the total site area and 759 parking stalls between on-site parking and adjacent off-site parking.

There will be a New Sonic built in the Southport area near I80 and Giles Road. This per a statement by Cutchall management in a story about Chick Fil A
