Menards Subdivision (NWC 204th & West Dodge)

Post by Omaha Cowboy »

Menard's & Thunder Bowl (204th and West Dodge)
From today's W-H:

'More shopping, eating and perhaps banking options are destined for Elkhorn.

The Elkhorn City Council unanimously approved a plan Tuesday for construction of a Menards and other businesses at the northwest corner of 204th Street and West Dodge Road.

Larry Jobeun, an attorney on the project, said the Menards, which will use about 18 acres, would be one of two anchor stores on the 47-acre site. The other businesses have not signed on yet, Jobeun said.

He said construction of the Menards would begin as soon as possible and be completed in the spring of 2007.

The other anchor store will use about 14 acres. Eight other businesses will occupy much smaller spots. They will include shops, fast food outlets and perhaps a bank and restaurant.'..

Didn't Menards just remodel the 132nd and Dodge location? Is this overkill?

I don't believe it's overkill bradley..

This new Menards on 204th and West Dodge is a full 6 miles to the west of the one on 132nd..And there is a mucho population demographic filling in between the 2 stores..

I think it is quite sufficient distance from the existing location. Shoot, Lowes on Maple locates itself directly across the street from Home Depot and only 4-5 miles from it's other location on W Center.

Hopefully this will spark other tenants in the marketplace to take interest in the Elkhorn area. I beileve it's only a matter of time.

Thunder Alley - 204th & Dodge

Post by Andrew »

Bringing more development to the 204th & Dodge area.  This one looks to be next door to Menards from what I can tell.  Not totally a done deal yet but I'm guessing you can about stick a fork in it.

Cool. I like bowling, hate bowling alleys.

They have to be figuring they need to attract a clientele this way since Elkhorn will be under the law of Omaha before too long. Smart business move.

But wow, that's a big joint!

I'm sure this was discussed earlier this year, but I can't find it. It was in the paper for sure.

Elkhorn council approves Thunderbowl recreation complex
A 40-lane bowling and entertainment complex won the Elkhorn City Council's approval Tuesday night but received mixed responses from neighbors.

Steve Sempeck, owner of the Elkhorn bowling institution known as Gateway Lanes, plans to build the eight-acre family entertainment complex on Cumberland Drive west of 204th Street.

In addition to bowling, the indoor complex will offer a go-cart track, an arcade, laser tag and a restaurant. Outdoors, it will have miniature golf, batting cages, sand volleyball courts and picnic areas.

All of this is indoors? Sounds unique and exciting. I can't wait for those go-karts.

They have started grading the general area where the new Menard's will stand at the NW corner of 204th & Dodge.  I assume this will probably take about a year until they end up opening their doors.

Thunder Alley owners hope to pin down the occasional player

http://www.omaha.com/index.php?u_page=1 ... d=10069907
Steve Sempeck exhibits the enthusiasm of a youngster anticipating Christmas morning when he speaks about a new $10 million facility that he and his partners hope will change the face of bowling in the Omaha area.

The 86,000-square-foot Thunder Alley in the Elkhorn area, depicted here in an architect's image, will include 40 lanes for bowling, a go-kart track, a laser tag area, a large arcade and a 350-seat upscale sports bar.
Sempeck and three partners are counting the weeks until the October opening of Thunder Alley in the Elkhorn area.

The 86,000-square-foot bowling and entertainment center is well under construction near 204th Street and West Dodge Road. It will feature 40 lanes for bowling and such other amenities as a go-kart track, a laser tag area, a large arcade and a 350-seat upscale sports bar.

It will be the largest bowling center between Des Moines and Denver.

I'm a bit surprised that you have more pics of a hollow shell Menards than the cool Thunder Bowl. Granted, I'm sure at this point in time you couldn't get inside, but Menards is a Menards is a Menards. Thunder Bowl is going to be an awesome addition to the Omaha area, and something very exciting for a lot of teenagers and families that tend to reiterate the "there's nothing fun to do in Omaha all year 'round" statement.

Thunder Alley in Elkhorn is now in fact open.  One problem though, the link you included is to Thunderbowl in Council Bluffs.  Here is the link to the new bowling alley in Elkhorn.

It looks like the web site could use a bit of work still but they have been advertising as open on the radio and on at least a couple of billboards I have seen around Omaha.

I haven't been bowling in years (maybe 10 or more).  Is $25/hr per lane or per person?  Is that a good deal or not?  Seems extremely reasonable if it's per lane, especially if you have 4 or more people.

It was per lane. But with 6 people, it pretty much took an hour for 1 game.

Wow... When did bowling get so expensive.

I remember back in the day RanchBowl was a buck a game per person.  I know there is a big difference between Thunder Bowl and RanchBowl, but still.
