Merritt Beach (Hwy 75 - Cass County)

New Plans for Merritt's Beach

http://www.wowt.com/home/headlines/2830686.html
Developers are working hard to make a deal on the property, but there is something that is slowing down the negotiations.

An eagle's nest sits high above Merritt's beach and Federal Officials from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service say that the eagle is protected under Federal Law and the eagle's nests is protected for five years. You cannot disturb or destroy the nest.

Officials also say that the nest is brand new and that could discourage developers from taking on the symbol of our nation.

The multi-million dollar deal is on hold until something can be figured out with the eagles. City administrators in Plattsmouth are being positive about future outcome.
Anyone that has driven to plattsmouth this is on the east side of 75, right after you cross the river.

From the Cass Gram:

100 Spot RV Campground coming to Merritt Beach.

They could start clearing and cleaning up the property as early as today.
