The new bank has to be just days away from opening, it look cool at night with the green lights lighting up the ceiling in the atrium above the door.

First thing you posted today that not on my list of "Photo I need to Post"...

Wonder when they are going to start the gas station?

The area of the Rock Bottom Cafe had a construction trailer on the lot yesterday.  Something must be happening soon.

Planning Board approved the Tangier plat on this site this week.  The Shriners are knocking all that junk down to rebuild something nicer.  Too bad they couldnt get the cell phone place too.

Today en-route to the “new” First National Bank Branch building, as I turned off Center Street onto 84th,
I saw the Rock Bottom Café building is gone. Now you are able to see the Auto Part Store that was behind the café.

Now is an empty space where this café recently stood.

It looks like they moved the head stone place to a trailer where the rock bottom use to stand.  I hope they remove that auto place too.   In other news, it looks like the bird store is all moved in to the former restaurant location and work on the Bucky's will begin soon.

The "bird store" as you referred to it moved back in April.  From what people in that shopping center have told me no one knows what Bucky's latest plans are or if they will come to fruition.  The original plans for the station and car wash have been junked, I was told.

The former gas station on the SE corner of 84th and center was being torn down today to make room for the new retail going in.  Still looks like the auto place next door is operational, not sure if that will be torn down to make room for the new development.

Now the crappy cell phone store is trying to get in the way of things - claiming the new plan violates an existing easment for access to the dump that should be torn down, I mean... no, thats what I meant.

That cell phone store should move over to the newly renovated Fredrick Square.

Not too much going on yet with the corner of 84th and Center.  I also noticed nothing going on with the Cinema Center either.

Whatever plans there were for Cinema Center must have fallen through.  I think the thought of competition from a new theatre at Aksarben Village scared them off.  We all know how that has worked out so far....  Sadly ironic.

I sure wish they could have at LEAST stayed open until AK Village opens its theater. Of course I would prefer that it never close.

They had planned to tear down a bay or two but apparently figured out they could squeeze the Cstore on without doing so.  The cstore should be going up any time now.

They drove a bunch of sheet pilings next to the strip mall and have a HUGE hole dug out where the C-Store will be.

I thought they were going to remodel the shopping center before they built the gas station?

I just drove by the gas station and am a little confused about what they are doing.  They have what I assume would be the back wall of the gas station going up but its gotta be with in 10 feet of the strip mall maybe closer.  im pretty sure they aren't going to tear down that part of the strip mall anymore since there are new tenants in there but i dont know.  It just looks kinda weird how its situated next to the strip mall.  Hopefully there are plans to re due that strip mall too

Crews are working at the SE corner of 84th & Center.  And the pet store that was just south of there is closed.  Not wanting to look back through the old posts, remind of what is going on here....

Why does everyone want to live in West Omaha? I get its better than downtown for a family but why would you want to live where the houses look the same and the comute is long?

Depending on where you work, the commute isn't that long. Also, you get more bang for your buck housing wise. I live in Dundee, for the same price as my modestly sized home I could afford an extra room or two out west and a bigger yard (if I wanted one, which I don't).

Exactly the reason why we love this area. All the homes are different. Built by different builders at different times. Sure, there are some duplicated floorplans, but for the most part, they're each they're own. While clearly I live in suburbia, I think it's a whole different ballgame than some of those pre-planned communities all built by the same builder further out west.

Bring Senior Matias back to this mall please. They left 90th & Center in 2011 and no new family dining has arrived in the area since they left. They were not authentic Mexican but were a good family friendly establishment. A Jimmy johns and a donut shop does't fill the void in the neighborhood.

Since when (1970?) was 84th and Center "west Omaha"?

I agree with this sentiment, but Señor Matias won't be back, unfortunately. The owner (Clarence), who was older, recently passed away. We know the family and actually live in his old house. Amusing fact: when you're the owner of a restaurant known for great margaritas, you have a built in blender in your kitchen countertop. Makes sense, right?
