Garden Ridge to fill Target space
JOHN KEENAN WORLD-HERALD STAFF WRITER wrote:Garden Ridge, a home décor chain based in Texas, will take over the former Target space near 132nd and West Center Road. Garden Ridge merchandise includes home décor, home textiles, housewares and other items. Willis said the buy also demonstrates how enthusiastic Garden Ridge is about the Omaha market. "The growth (in Omaha) has been impressive, and the market certainly is extremely attractive to us," said Willis. He added that Garden Ridge has been actively looking to get into the Omaha market for more than a year.

I'm real happy to hear that this location will not sit vacant much longer.

Garden Ridge?

Post by Eyandem »

Apparently, that is what is going into the old Target building on 132nd and West Center, has anyone ever been into one of those stores? When I tried looking it up online, it looks  like the sell home decor and such....

I went to one in Dallas... my impression - equal parts of Michael's/Hobby Lobby/Big Lots - that was a year or so ago - although - according to the website - it looks like they have added furniture... making it pretty eclectic.

I do not think anything will change. From mu understanding At Home is actually one of their brand names

I think something changed because they now let the Enterprise Bank employees park in their lot. Garden Ridge did not and all the employees parked in the neighborhood.

At Home is one of their brands so maybe they just got a nicer store manager or something?

Was in here yesterday and an employee told me business was up by 38% since the name change. He said they had people tell them they didn't stop in because they thought it was a garden center under old name.

Any idea what's going in to the new structure being built out front of Garden Ridge at 129th and West Center? It is the size of a fast food restaurant, but I saw no signage.

I moved the "Orchard Plaza Panera Bread" posts out of the Montclair on Center thread as well as the posts out of the rasin canes thread and put them all in to this Orchard Plaza thread...

Quick drive-by, it appears this new Panera building will have two bays one facing east and one facing south east… I assumed it would face west .

I learned that this Panera will be a relocation of the Oakview Panera.

Additionally, if I heard correctly, the end of September is the tentative opening date, seems aggressive, but not having to train new staff helps.

That sign for At Home always looks to me like "Ath me" due to its coloring. It's like one of those "what do you see?" puzzles.

This Panera is now open, Oakview closed.

If you use the self-service kiosk you get a free cookie. Since I got disgusted with the "workers" standing around and ignoring me, I tried the new kiosk terminal, worked quite well.

I'm curious if this is the new "look" for Panera, or if it just happens to be the building they chose to locate in.

Since it is a brand new building built for their use guessing it fits what they want

That building was built in the mid 70’s and that particular Target store opened in 1977..It ceased being a Target when the Super Target opened in the L Street Marketplace (120th to 132nd and L St) about 2007-2008...

That target was either the 54th or 59th store. The one on 90th was the other. Saddlecreek was T-36.

Saddlecreek was the first target here. Omaha was a home to the first Super Target.

No. The first Omaha Target was at Saddle Creek & Dodge IIRC. And I believe that the Eagle Run Kmart was opened specifically as a Kmart, replacing one at 110th & Maple. The SuperTarget at 132nd & Maple replaced a Target at 90th & Maple, which is now Family Fare.

IIRC, 132nd & W Center was T-59 and T-54 was 90th and Maple. I worked at T-36 for 4+ years when I was in high school/college.
