Nice it looks like there is going to be 12 LED billboards in the arena (I figured they would just be printed boards or banners)twiztid1 wrote:http://youtu.be/AULQ-P7jGJU

My wife loves these things. Â I think she goes to Aksarben Cinema just because they have one of them.nebugeater wrote:These things suck. Advertise over 130 flavors of soft drinks and no matter how hard I look I still cannot find Diet Pepsi!

Signs just went up along the interstate to direct people to the "Ralston Arena". Â Call me naive, but I've assumed that "Ralston Arena" was just a placeholder name, and that Ralston was going to sell off naming rights at some point. Â But now that the state has just spent money to post these signs, I guess the "Ralston Arena" name is going to stick apparently.

I thought he was hard at work rebuilding his empire. Â Are you underestimating him?nebugeater wrote:Fromaha wrote:I suppose even after its completed, maybe in a couple years, they could still sell the naming rights. How about the Rod Kush Coliseum?
I am not sure he even has his name on a house any more.
Actually, he makes me think of Solomon and Solomon from Magnolia. Â Poor Donny.

Linkin, that's somewhat debatable. Their original estimates were for one tenant. Now the interest in the building has ballooned and is proving to be "just the ticket" for several additional organizations, which is great.
Hard to budget for unexpected things like a lingerie football league. Though, I have personally prepared such contingencies in my budget should the LFL need a place to crash.

Weren't they expecting the "arena" to be a multi-use facility? Â I just kind of find it odd that they would not have factored in these costs.almighty_tuna wrote:Linkin, that's somewhat debatable. They also said they did not plan on a full service kitchen, but they realized they could make more money if they had it.almighty_tuna wrote:The way I read it was they did expect multiple uses but perhaps not so many tenants for those uses immediately as the arena opened.

No I just think they screwed up. Â Only planning on one tenant. Â Really??? Â Did not consider/plan for others with the uncertainty around the Civic. Â I think they were either clueless or they really had a flawed budget from the beginning. Â
Greg
The additional expenses may have been left out to make the project an easier sell to taxpayers.

From the RFP:twiztid1 wrote:Ralston has put out an rfp for a hotel on the arena site.
