Casey's (South Expressway & 23rd Street)

Post by Brad »

Looks like a Buckey's going up on the South Expressway near 23rd Street.

It was Gorilla Wash car wash.

I think it is going to be Casey's.  They are moving from across the street.  They bought the car wash in May according to the  Pottawattamie County assessors website.

Could be, but the design looked just like a new Buckey's with that really long car wash next to the building.

It could be Bucky's.  I haven't driven by there for a while and will have to.  It seems to me that I read in the Nonpareil that Casey's was building a new building across the street.  I may be wrong though.

I remember hearing that it was a Casey's also.  Not Bucky's.

We drove by the other night when we were out Christmas Shopping, nice looking Casey's!  Is this some sort of new prototype store?

Here is a story about the new Casey's from the Nonpareil:
http://southwestiowanews.com/articles/2 ... 880511.txt

The new store is the company’s newest design, which will feature a new made-to-order sub sandwich, expanded coffee bar and sit-down area for customers
This is the biggest I’ve every built and I own 19 car washes,” Jeff Ballenger said. Ballenger owns the car wash
The “tunnel” of the car wash is 110 feet long, compared to 55 feet in most other facilities, he said.

The old Casey's has now turned into a bike shop. The look is actually coming along better than I thought.

Peddle or Motor?

There is a bike trail right across the street behind Casey's. It follows the old Wabash Railroad Line to the NW from Caseys to 16th Ave before it heads north a few block and back east to south 8th Street. However it doesn't connect to the actual Wabash Trace Trail.

Motor

The bike trail is actually a great ride. they have cleaned it up and added signs with the distance to various points in the city. Last summer I used to start near Caseys, ride to lake manawa then to the Bob Kerry bridge and back. This year however i will have to start elsewhere as part of the trail is closed. (the portion under i80/29 as they are building the new bridge.

In regards to Caseys, the other location on S Expressway near the dealerships was gutted and doubled in size (almost complete) and the other CB location was torn down and rebuilding.
