It will be the second time in four years that Council Bluffs was chosen to kick off the annual ride, and the sixth time since the ride began.
The city served as the starting point in 2009, shortly after the Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge, which links Council Bluffs and Omaha, opened. At that time, an estimated 15,000 riders and others descended on the metropolitan area for the kickoff.
The Council Bluffs side of the bridge was largely undeveloped in 2009. This year River's Edge Park, which will formally open in May, will be ready for riders.
Does anybody know where the night time concert and entertainment will be at in Council Bluffs for the RAGBRAI start? Â Will it be downtown like most starting cities?

I don't know that the planning committees have that pinpointed just yet, but I would imagine the set up will be much the same as the last time RAGBRAI was here, with activities centered around the MAC/BPS area.

The Council Bluffs organizing committee for the 2013 RAGBRAI – the Register’s Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa – has selected a local theme: “Sizzle In Your Seat – a Wild Ride for Your Hide.”
The Bluffs theme will feature a pig riding a bicycle. . . .
Plans are being developed for a Council Bluffs RAGBRAI website and Facebook page, which will feature the theme, show the T-shirt design, and provide other pertinent information for residents and RAGBRAI enthusiasts. . . .
