Want to buy a used missile base?

Maybe a slight overstatement, but Iowa Western Community College will attempt to sell 286 acres of prime farm and development land at public auction on Thursday....the land originally was farm ground. In the 1950s it was purchased by the federal government and used for a missile silo base for a few years.

...the land has significant road structure and water retention capabilities for ponds or marsh, plus cedar stands and timbered areas capable of supporting wildlife habitat. It also could be used for a single-family home site to a complete development of acreage estates.

The entire 286 acres will be offered in one piece or it may be sold in four parcels...
