New subdivision to honor former councilman

Post by icejammer »

For those that travel I-80 through the Bluffs, you might have noticed all the infrastructure going in place for this new subdivision on the north side just west of Indian Creek. More affordable housing on the south side of town:

Street in new subdivision to carry Pavich's name
The City Council Monday night approved the final plans for a 98-lot subdivision to be built west of South 15th Street and north of 28th Avenue near the city's animal shelter. The land there is currently vacant.

All of the lots have already been sold to various builders and real estate agents, said developer Ed Leazenby.

The sanitary and storm sewers, along with the paved streets, are complete, he said, with the water lines nearing completion.

Within three weeks, people should start to see homes being built, he said.

The single-family homes will be priced in the $125,000 to $140,000 range, Leazenby said.

All of the homes should be built by December 2007, he said.

The homes will have up to three bedrooms with kitchen/dining area, main-floor laundry room and garages. Some may have a half basement, Leazenby said.

Upon recommendation from the city's Public Works Department, the new street between South 15th and 16th streets will be known as Pavich Drive, in honor of the longtime political activist, Leazenby said.

Housing options grow in Bluffs
The Zieger Addition has just given the local housing market a boost.

It's a project of LC Development, an operation run by Mike Collins and Ed Leazenby that officially opened last week between South 16th Street and Pavich Drive in the area of 25th Avenue.

The Zieger Addition puts 98 lots on 20 acres . . .

. . . all 98 lots have been sold. Construction is under way on many of the lots, with 35 foundations poured.
