Kind of a borderline development subject, as it's street maintenance money that's driving this, but still, if the below estimate of growth holds, it would put Council Bluffs on track to reach 65k by the next official census:
Since 2000, however, the Public Works Department has estimated that Council Bluffs has grown by some 3,840 people. This means the city could be eligible to receive an additional $322,000 in street maintenance money.

The Council Bluffs City Council Monday night gave the go-ahead for a new census that might bring in more money for street maintenance.
And from the same story, totally unrelated, but a site that has seen a tremendous amount of dirt work this year, kind of interesting name for a subdivision, considering they cleared 95% of the trees on the site...
In other business, the council approved the final plat of a 34-lot residential subdivision known as McPherson Woods. It will be located on the northern side of McPherson Avenue across from the St. Albert High School baseball field.

Good news, should put the City well over 60,000, although the increase isn't quite as much as City staff thought, but then again, the special census targeted only select portions of the City, not the entire city. Â Still, it's about 1700 more than the latest 'estimates' from the Census, so add 1700 to the metro pop estimate!
Council Bluffs will be receiving $250,000 in additional money for street maintenance in each of the next three years from the result of a special census that showed a gain of 3,035 new residents. . .

I love how Council Bluffs has become a great option and alternative for corporate building and living..
I have realized that one of Omaha's strengths is that it lives in TWO states, giving Omaha/CB a chance for a double take by potential employers, developments, people relocating...
Congrats Council Bluffs and thank you for becoming a player, and now assuming a big role as a part of a major thriving metropolis!
Hey Erik, thank you and you're welcome! Â I hope that more and more take on your attitude, because it's true, if we all work together and build upon the strengths of one another, rather than trying to compete with or run down the other, this metro can truly become a great place!
