New industrial park

Post by icejammer »

This is the site of the formerlly proposed Minard theme-park:

City mulls industrial development
The rezoning of land to encourage more interest for industrial development along the South Omaha Bridge Road will be an issue voted upon Monday night by the Council Bluffs City Council.

The Council Bluffs Industrial Foundation and 92 L.L.C. have requested the rezoning of land located between Indian Creek on the east to South 24th Street on the west and between 34th Avenue on the north and South Omaha Bridge Road on the south.

The 92 L.L.C. group is the owner of the land. The rezoning request would remove that land from parks or agricultural uses to industrial uses.

Rezoning for industrial park approved...

Rezoning approved to spur development
The Council Bluffs City Council Monday approved the rezoning of land along the South Omaha Bridge Road to encourage more interest in industrial development.

The rezoning involved land located between Indian Creek on the east to South 24th Street on the west and between 34th Avenue on the north and South Omaha Bridge Road on the south.

Under a council-imposed condition, the rezoning would take effect when the Council Bluffs Industrial Foundation purchases the land from the current owner. . .

Didn't take long for the OWH to catch wind of this...

Plans in motion for industrial project in Bluffs
The Council Bluffs Industrial Foundation is assembling about 180 acres of land for an industrial project just north of Lake Manawa.

In the latest step, the city's Planning Commission on Tuesday night recommended extending the amount of time during which any companies that locate on the site would qualify for property tax rebates. That matter will go before the City Council April 23.

Information is limited about the project, partly due to confidentiality clauses included in purchase options on some of the land. Security also is important to the business reportedly interested in locating some operations there, said a developer of a nearby project. . .

Much of the land that the foundation is looking to buy is owned by a group that includes real estate developers John Jerkovich, Frank Krejci and others. Jerkovich runs a large real estate company, and Krejci has been involved in the development of numerous projects, such as Oak View Mall in Omaha.

Another portion of land under a purchase option is owned by Omaha Mayor Mike Fahey and his attorney, Richard Coenen.

Sounds like the Google rumor could have some truth.

also from the article:
The Omaha-Council Bluffs metropolitan area, home to Offutt Air Force Base and numerous technology firms, is known for its large network of fiber-optic cables. And the Bluffs site would have easy access to the expanding Mid-American Energy plant in southern Council Bluffs.

But Mark Norman, who works with both the foundation and the Council Bluffs Area Chamber of Commerce, remained silent on whether a technology firm is being courted.[/img]
