Microtel Inn and Suites

Post by icejammer »

Two more hotels planned near MAC
The city Planning Commission Tuesday night will hold public hearings on plans to build a Microtel Inn and Suites, northeast of South 35th Street at 23rd Avenue. . .

The Microtel Inn and Suites project would be located on slightly more than two acres on the east side of South 35th Street northwest of 23rd Avenue. It would feature 80 rooms. . . .

Ryan Belford, general manager and part owner of the 62-room Microtel Inn and Suites that opened in February 2006 in Bellevue, Neb., said the Council Bluffs site was chosen because of what he feels is a need for a new economy hotel in the area.

The new Microtel would cost guest about $60 a night. It would have a pool, free long-distance phone service and wireless Internet access and a fitness center.

The City Council Monday night approved the development plan for a Microtel Inn and Suites, northeast of the intersection of South 35th Street and 23rd Avenue. . .

The Microtel project would be located on slightly more than two acres and feature 80 rooms. It's considered an economy line motel but still nice, local officials have said. It would cost guests about $60 a night and have a pool, free long-distance telephone service, wireless Internet access and a fitness center.

Access to the hotel would be along South 35th Street with a right in/right out design with full access entry further north on South 35th Street at the Omaha Standard Co. operation.

Microtel to break ground in April
Microtel Inns and Suites, an award-winning chain of economy hotels, will break ground in April for the construction of an 80-room hotel.

The structure will stand on 23rd Avenue between Star Cinema theatre, 3220 23rd Ave., and Omaha Standard, 2109 S. 35th St., but an address has not been assigned. . . .

More than 325 Microtels are open or under construction in the United States. Soon the list will include Council Bluffs.

"With the casinos and the Mid-America Center, it seemed like the best place to build," Belford said.

Seems like this one got a little delayed earlier this year, but it would appear that the framing should all be finished before the week is up (if not already done).
