Council hires firm to create strategic plan
We'll see where this leads...The formation of a citywide economic development strategy for Council Bluffs was approved by the City Council Monday evening.
"The purpose is to take a citywide look at how Council Bluffs fits into the overall Omaha and southwest Iowa market," said Rose Brown of the Community Development Department. "It's to see what opportunities might be available." . . .
The scope of the services would involve a community economic profile, the development of a strategy and a cost of service analysis for use in the development of a subsidy policy. . . .
"The city has never done a significant economic development analysis," Gross said. "Our office doesn't get funds for economic development. I wouldn't have proposed it if I thought it was a waste of money." . . .
