Lindgren said the new takeout and delivery spot, which opened near Thomas Jefferson High School in early October, sells pizza, hot wings and breadsticks from 4 p.m. to at least 10 p.m. every night but Tuesdays.

For people hungry for more pizza options in Council Bluffs, it’s time to be introduced to Dan’s Pizza.

It’s located at 2543 Second Ave., just south of Thomas Jefferson High School, and one of the few places west of the Broadway viaduct to serve pizzas. It’s fast, too. For example, one can order a large pizza and have it ready to go in just 15 minutes.

Dan’s Pizza opened three months ago, according to manager Brad Lindgren.

“My dad’s got another location in Onawa and wanted to expand in Council Bluffs,” he said.

Looking around the West Broadway area, he found a location on Second Avenue that had once been a laundromat but had been vacant for some time.

Dan’s Pizza features fresh dough and ingredients, and it comes in four sizes; 10-inch small, 12-inch medium, 14-inch large and 16-inch jumbo. The all-meat pizzas come in pepperoni, hamburger, sausage, bacon, Canadian bacon and cheese. There’s the D-Lux pizza featuring pepperoni, hamburger, sausage, onions, green onions, mushrooms, green peppers and cheese.

Also available are bacon cheeseburger pizza, Hawaiian, the Veggie and Fireball featuring pepperoni and jalapenos. Sauerkraut and black olives are other ingredients available. People can select from one of these specialties or the pizza can be made with their own favorite ingredients. Five-plus toppings are available in each size.

Dan’s also features an everyday special of a large one-topping pizza for just $12, a nearly $2 savings.

“Any one topping you want,” Lindgren said.

Seasoned bread sticks and hot and spicy unbreaded chicken wings are also available, plus pop or bottled water.

Though open only a few months, Dan’s is getting repeat customers, according to Lindgren.

“We’ve got quite a few who have come back,” he said.

People can come in and carry out their orders or they will deliver it in Council Bluffs and Carter Lake for only $2.

The hours are from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Mondays through Thursdays and 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.

Business has been good so far, according to Lindgren, and the future looks bright what with a new Hy-Vee Food Store to open this year just up the block.

“That should bring people down here to this area,” he said.
