Iowa Census figures

Post by OmahaBen »

Iowa's redistricting census figures got released today.

The suburbs (OH NOES!!!) of Des Moines showed the most growth over the last decade, with Dallas County and Ankeny growing by 60+ percent each. West Des Moines and Urbandale also grew sharply, adding 22% and 35% to their populations respectively. Des Moines proper grew at just a 2.5% clip.

Council Bluffs got past the 60,000 mark with nearly 7% growth. Sioux City lost population. Ames and Story County grew fairly quickly, and threaten to jump past Council Bluffs and Pott county in the population pecking order.

Overall, the cities and associated suburbs grew while the rural areas continued to lose population. Will be interesting to see how much more exacerbated that trend is in Nebraska when its numbers get released.

Looking forward to Nebraska's figures!
