That is really cool, but depressing at the same time. I wish there was a drag-able image of Omaha, before & after I-80, I-480, I-680, north freeway, etc.

I agree, I wish there was one for Omaha. I know the interstate system here has drastically changed the landscape, especially with all the houses that have been removed and the north downtown area.

Just remembered.....If you go to the DCGIS website, you can select a 1941 aerial photo as the Basemap. It has the current properties overlayed on the old photo, so you can get a good idea of what was in the route of the interstate system through Omaha. I was surprised there wasn't much at all in the way of the main part of I-80 west of about 30th street....mostly farmland in 1941, about 10-20 years before the Interstates started to be built. I-480 and the North Freeway wiped-out a lot though.
