Saudi Arabia is building a $100 billion city on the Persian Gulf to help make their economy less dependent on oil. Meanwhile, the city will not include any public transit and be centered on highways. Oh, the irony.

Holy cow. That's actually kind of neat, minus the whole no public transport part. I guess you have to give all the wealthy businessmen a chance to drive their Ferraris and Lambos.
Plus, it's development that isn't destroying any historical relics, unlike the Mecca Clocktower. I guess in Islam, preservation of historical sites isn't a priority, mainly because it could be seen as idolatry if they were to save them.
