NYC Highrise Boom

Post by GetUrban »

There's a good article in the newest issue of National Geographic Mag about NYC's high-rises coming soon.

....Makes HDR's planned 16-story international HQ seem pretty piddly. But we'll take it.

What's going on in New York boggles the mind and the Hudson Yards, like woah.

Wow, that is incredible. I knew there was a building boom, but that graphic shows how much the skyline is going to be impacted in the next 5-10 years.

The new design for 2 WTC is disappointing... the old design was better

I like it too. It's much more innovative than the old one.

I like it as well. I was actually not a huge fan of the original one, and I don't really care for the first tower rebuilt, although I understand the design was a twist on the original one.

Here are some of the proposals first put forward. My favorite is the giant pound sign lol.

Proposed skyscraper near Central Park, 102 stories tall. I can't tell if I hate it or love it.

I'll be the first to support a developer's right to build whatever they darn well please on their property; that said, that is a ghastly abomination.

That is a visionary tower, it has zero chance of actually getting built.

NYC will be better off it it remains digital. Just think of all the pieces that will eventually fall off, including chunks of ice, not to mention the cult following it will generate. Reminds me of the tower in Ghostbusters and the third replication of the Vuldronii.

I'm all for originality...but that's a bit out there.

It is a bit odd but New York needs some new unique buildings. Not just another Park Avenue.
