City officials unveiled details for a 13-story public-private parking ramp development with 525 spaces and an attached hotel and commercial space at 110 S. Mall Avenue. Plans were unveiled Tuesday in front of the City Council and revealed the previously anticipated budget of $18 million isn't going to be enough.

Nice statement for Sioux Falls.

I have always bee really impressed with Phillips Ave in their downtown. Very pedestrian friendly and well kept historic buildings.

New downtown hotel will include two Marriott brands

http://siouxfalls.business/new-downtown ... tt-brands/

Residence Inn and AC Hotel by Marriott will be the two hotels sharing the 15-story Village on the River building that’s starting construction in downtown Sioux Falls.

The Residence Inn will offer an upscale extended-stay option downtown, he said. It features separate living, working and sleeping zones within each suite.
Other amenities include fully equipped kitchens, complimentary grocery delivery service, free Wi-Fi, a 24-hour market, complimentary hot breakfast and evening entree reception, and RI runs — a local recommended running route in partnership with Under Armour Connected Fitness.

AC is a newer brand that started in Europe. Described as a boutique-designed. upscale hotel brand, it includes the AC Lounge, a work space hub during the day and a social atmosphere in the night. Guest rooms are designed with a modern touch, and breakfast has been elevated to feature European-inspired meals.

An area called the Startup Grind is meant for entrepreneurs to meet with mentors. Additional amenities include free Wi-Fi throughout the entire facility, a business center, library, restaurant, lounge and mobile requests through the Marriott Mobile App.

“It’s one of the fastest-growing brands Marriott has on the upscale side,” Lamont said. “It’s a lifestyle brand. You’ll find a contemporary lobby, a bar-restaurant in the lobby offering wine on tap, a tapas appetizer menu and full breakfast.”

yes i have seen some of those posts elsewhere. Then there is SD Governor candidate who said during a debate. "Sioux Falls, here in downtown, is much more dangerous and has more violent crimes than Lincoln, Nebraska, Omaha, Nebraska, Fargo, North Dakota -- than other regional cities that are larger than Sioux Falls," Noem said Thursday.

LOL, unreal. Typical politician fear mongering rhetoric.. Perhaps the national guard needs to be called in to quell the surging violent crime issue in Sioux Falls, SD  ...

Love that! Great for Sioux Falls. It will really add to their downtown. I bet Sioux Falls feels tugged between being a Minneapolis, Omaha/Des Moines, and/or Rapid City. Even more so than Omaha, I feel it is tugged by the West. The Dakotas just have that "wild west" aspect. I only bring this up because Im wondering about interior & lobby artwork & interior design in this new hotel -- although I'm guessing it will be modern artwork. In Omaha, interior lobby artwork involving Plains Indians feels appropriate if wanted (like it is featured at the Bank of the West building on West Dodge Rd). Same thing in Sioux Falls. In Des Moines & Minneapolis: It doesnt feel or seem quite appropriate, imo -- although they, of course, have Native American history, too (yet, I would say it isn't as strong of a heritage there). I've always spoken about Omaha (& Sioux Falls) being slightly more "wild west" than Des Moines, but I couldnt pinpoint a way to really prove it. This Native American lobby artwork aspect is a way to prove it.

Sad for Sioux Falls... Hope it comes together again. (I almost always thought, though, that SF is kinda "jumping the gun" and trying too hard and too fast to be some "big city." It doesn't surprise me a bit it fell through.)

Was this supposed to be Sioux Falls new tallest? I’m also getting concerned about Lincoln’s proposal of it’s 20 story residential tower built into the side of a parking garage. Haven’t heard anything on that for a while. And one of the highrise apartment tower proposals in Des Moines is looking doubtful as the developer faces financial problems. And the project is currently stalled.
