Wow, that almost makes me a little said. One more thing to factor in the equation Wags is perception of distance.

Look at the impact some of the mega towers have on the skyline that will come out of the condo boom.

WOW I LOVE YOU CHICAGO.
I and DTO are taking a trip to there soon I can’t wait. We are doing the whole downtown thing (most likely not sneaking onto the roofs of their buildings). But nonetheless we will be in and out of every freaking crevice in the loop.

been there a few months now. I really like it. It's a mix between the IBM building and Marina City towers w/ a futuristic interpretation.

Infact, the Aqua shows its presence in the skyline in the image I posted above. It's right behind BCBS building on the right side of the animation.

I have some interests in two 1000+ foot skyscraper being built on the north shore of Chicago River.

Trump Tower and Spire is on the left, Nary Pier is on Right.

First one is on the lakefront, west of the Navy Pier.
The Chicago Spire. Formerly the Fordham Spire

This Widipedia article, near the bottom, has a video of the Chicago skyline and inside/outside views of the ChicagoSpire with the comments by the architect.

This building received the Popular Science Best of what 07's Engineering Grand award winner.

The other one, few blocks up the Chicago River, is on the site of the old Chicago Sun-Times building, east of Marina City (twin round towers)

If you ask me the Chicago Spire is completely heinous, a skyline destroyer and reason enough to move.   :barf:

yeah, it doesn't really fit, but it will surely bring lots of people to Chicago that may have not been there before...as if Chicago didn't have a lot to offer already.  I'm sure it will grow on people after time; Parisians didn't want the Eiffel Tower built when it was built, either.  Now it's highly revered.  We'll see, i just wish the Spire wasn't designed like a huge drill bit.

Yep. People hated the Picasso statue when it went up but now it's a Chicago icon.

adam186 wrote:What building would you like mostly to be built in Omaha?  Not necessarily the tallest, but a good design that would fit into Omaha skyline perfectly.

Also, I'm going to update the rundown so the pics have the height on them as well.  Please POST anything.
You asked this question quite some time ago, but I still want to answer .

I think the "One Museum Park West" would look pretty good in the Omaha skyline.

Although, most of our buildings downtown are square/rectangular. Might want something with a little more uniqueness to it.

Haha, hey thanks ShawJ!

I really do like that building, especially the glassy spiral on the top.  Would add a nice peak in our flat topped skyline.

I'm sure this building was on the first page, but I absolutely love it. One of the better buildings I've seen in a while.

aside from the fact that i definitely need to get back to Chicago soon, i noticed some new buildings going up in the background at Obama's victory rally.  I'm going to head over to skyscrapers.com to see if i can figure out new ones going up...
