That Hilton Skirvin is unbelievable.

Imagine the parking garage or fountain we could have made out of THAT!  ;)

Private investment in downtown since the $360 mil MAPS I was completed is now nearing $3 bil. They told us we would see over $100 mil. 2,500 downtown units proposed or u/c and counting (all together, not just these projects)....

As far as "other prairie city" goes (OKC actually considers itself more southern than plains), I won't try and pick a fight on here, but a little distinction from Des Moines is probably in order. We're like more than twice their population. And we have the NBA in our future backing us up.

http://www.cnn.com/2007/TRAVEL/DESTINAT ... index.html
CNN.com wrote: The ornate Skirvin Hotel -- opened in 1911 just four years after Oklahoma became a state -- is the historic social hub of Oklahoma City. The 220,000-square-foot behemoth was a place residents and visitors to the new state wanted to see -- and where they wanted to be seen.

The hotel's luster, hidden away for almost 20 years as it sat boarded up, is brightening the cityscape once again since reopening February 26 as the Skirvin Hilton.

i like that hilton---devon tower would be cool, but should be scaled back; with how big it is compared to the rest, it'd look like the burj dubai.

John Hancock Tower looked a bit isolated itself when it was first built, too.  :;):

Yeah, but i don't see OKC or any city like that producing the number of skyscrapers in 40 years that Chicago does to even it out :)

^^ Yeah hopefully in The future OKC will get a smaller tower in The 6-700 ft range to compliment The Devon Tower!OKC has 5 towers over 400 ft(will be 6),1(will be 2) over 500ft and 16(will be 17) over 250 ft!How many towers in Omaha are over 250 ft?or 400?or 500,600? to me Omaha's skyline looks allright,it just looks like two towers and thats it,The Woodmen, and the new 600 footer, and thats all!Man it really looked very small before The new tower was built!
